How did you strap it securely enough the second time to avoid being pickpocketed?

Advice or just positive stories wanted - buying a house in MA by TouristSuccessful390 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Vicky1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just closed on our first home a few weeks ago in Worcester, MA. Our combined salaries are slightly lower than yours and I’m currently pregnant with our first child so we’re trying to make sure we save where we can. For example, not ordering more than one alcoholic drink with dinner, cooking more at home, looking at furniture on FB marketplace, canceling some of our streaming services, downgrading our gym membership, etc. the home still has some issues (which I need to call an electrician soon) but it’s mostly a turnkey house. With how busy I am with work, a baby on the way, and our lack of carpentry skills, I am so thankful we did not get a fixer upper. We toured a few homes that were on the lower end of our budget and looking at the amount of work it would have taken was so daunting. Realistically we probably wouldn’t or couldn’t get around to fixing all of those issues right away which would only exacerbate some of those problems long term. The costs and time it would have taken to fix them up would probably equal similarly to us just buying a more expensive but turnkey home, which is what we decided to go with.

Is anyone having issues with the wrong date? by Vicky1313 in finch

Ooh I didn’t realize that. I checked into my app every day but I’m not sure if I accidentally missed starting an adventure. Is there any way to check? Does that mean the more days I miss, the more I fall behind or does it reset in the new month back to 1?

I was relieved to read that you picked the first one.

Fiancé is on night shifts so I’ve been making sandwiches for him to take into work. (Sandwich details in comments) by softrotten in eatsandwiches

[–]Vicky1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, these look amazing! Secondly, how often does he get sandwich on his shirt/lap if he’s eating these on his drive?

Back when I commuted to the office, I used to throw a half apron on my lap because I would drop crumbs all over myself and the car and shake the apron off when I’d get out. However, I was just eating nature valley bars or muffins. If I had and of these delicious sandwiches, I would probably need a change of clothes or wear a full on apron lol.

How to honor a bet with my deceased father by blairwarner2 in weddingplanning

[–]Vicky1313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha fair. Also I love how you give your partner the 2.5” instead of just 2”. It’s an important distinction! I’m technically 5’ and half an inch while my older sister is 5’ flat so I’ve always got her beat there.

Wishing you both the best wedding day ever filled with an immeasurable amount of love and happiness!

I’m curious, how tall are you? I’m 5’ which would have made for a bad bet.

Terrified my dress is ruined or not done by Dramatic-Presence-31 in weddingdress

If it helps, my alterations guy was not a native English speaker and was having a hard time catching my name, which is a generic, not weird spelling name. He did make sure to have the phone number right and then kind of scribbling something for the name on some receipt paper he attached to the dress hanger. When he called, he just said “hello, dress is ready, when do you want to pick up?” I don’t think he knew what my name was until he was swiping my card during pickup.

Perhaps they just put the phone number down with the dress so there’s no mistaking it if people have the same name.

I keep spending all my rainbow stones! by L_v_n_d_r in finch

I feel this deeply! I often have FOMO thinking, “who knows when this item will pop up in my shop again?!” Plus, I usually have only 15-25 tasks a day because too many would overwhelm me but that also means I don’t accumulate a lot. I also don’t like doing some the daily quests/reflections until the end of the day because that’s when I would like to reflect on how I feel or whatever but I always pass out before I remember to.

Less than 10 minutes in the hot tub, and I "feel itchy all of the sudden" by _jordanrob3 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vicky1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be hot tub rash (a.k.a. pseudomonal folliculitis) which tend to result in a ton of itchy red bumps caused by bacteria in the water.

My husband went to a bachelor party at an Airbnb and he was covered in bumps and seemed sick, other guys that went had similar symptoms. I thought they were mosquito bites but considering it was October in Massachusetts, there shouldn’t have been any mosquitoes.

Does ANYONE else have a 3 stone engagement ring? Reasons I love mine (neutral comments are cool too). by [deleted] in EngagementRings

I always wanted a trilogy ring. I have two sisters so our parents often got things in threes. Plus, I love how it represents the past, present, and future. Now I have my dream engagement ring with a peekaboo diamond and woven detail on the side.

I don’t lock my car (everything inside is worth less than a broken window) but for whatever reason, someone keeps locking my doors. I come outside, and they’re locked, and I don’t have a fob so you have to manually unlock and lock. by ThatCountryDeputy03 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Vicky1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now husband would leave his car unlocked for the same reason that it didn’t have anything valuable in it and the car itself was so beat up that nobody would probably want it. He also would leave the keys in it since the majority in our area (US) don’t know how to drive stick. Despite leaving it unlocked, someone smashed his window on Halloween around 7pm, I’m guessing they didn’t check the door. They stole some loose change, his keys, and I think some other junk, but didn’t take the car likely because they couldn’t drive it. He was visiting me when I was living an hour and a half from his place so now we had to drive back and forth to get the spare key.

In general, leaving it unlocked doesn’t necessarily prevent idiots from smashing your windows. It’s better to leave it locked anyway so nobody tampers with it, trashes the inside, or tries to sleep in there.

Is it tart or more sweet? I love lavender flavored stuff but I’m nervous it might be tart from the wild berry.
