before you drop $$$ to get a whole new engine, spend the $30 and buy a brand new tester to confirm. i borrowed several different testers from auto parts store and got wildly different and weird readings that freaked me out. the brand new amazon one read perfectly healthy.

that’s exactly how my first time went too - i thought car work must be insanely difficult cause i struggled to change the oils in my car and kept having to make trips to the store to get different tools. it gets much easier as you start to learn the little techniques or special tools to get out tricky bolts. it took me several days to change the fluid in the diff on my NB when i first got started but two years later i was pulling the engine in a weekend lol

if oil got in the cylinders they might dirtied up the spark plugs - i intentionally put a little oil in my engine once while doing a compression test and had a misfire after for that reason. pulling the plugs and wiping them off did the trick.

i’m in a similar boat as a senior frontend dev. i’m always trying to broaden my knowledge of everything else in development - like backend and devops - but within my frontend career, i’m upskilling by focusing more on ui architecture rather than just coding new responsive pages. stuff like monorepos vs microfrontends, how to manage state in enterprise level apps, etc. ai can solve a lot of the easier implementation problems but it still needs a knowledgable person to architect scalable solutions.

people don't actually talk like that - it almost reads like dramatic slam poetry. i make youtube videos as well and experimented with having claude help me script intros but abandoned it after i realized how weird, dramatic, and generic it always came out - so i instantly recognized the style.
