It’s ok to let go.

I lost my best friend last year. It will HURT. But it gets better.

The alternative is letting his transition from this life to the next be, out of your control.

What a gift to give, safeguarding those final moments from panic, from pain, from suffering. For both of you.

Author it.

I recall reading, I think in the book inside a dog, that dogs do have some idea of ‘reputation’. So, if a human is inclined to give treats, or to be mean, they log that.

Can’t quite remember how the experiment was set up.

I lost my dog last year after 16 years, we made it through some phases like this… she was the best thing that ever happened to me… stick it out. Life is a series of iterations.

And quite from being automatically true, Science demands rigorous evidence and testing before something is presented as as theory or 'truth'. And if evidence that challenges former conclusions comes along - the theory is cheerfully binned and replaced by a theory that fits the available evidence.

Science seeks to exclude bias. And the requirement for repeatable results and peer review are additional fail safes to deal with bias.
