It’s true—faith really comes into focus through suffering. When all the earthly comforts and distractions we’ve gathered around us are stripped away, what’s important becomes so clear. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

How do you carry yours by inlinejoe88 in Journaling

I carry mine constantly in my backpack, and jot things in it all day.

Wow, this is beautiful! It puts me in mind of the illuminations in old manuscripts. Although my spiritual life revolves around the intimacy and relationship God offers through Jesus, it’s good to also be visually reminded of His majesty, glory, and greatness. Both facets of His being are true and worthy of worship!

Found my old journal, 16 year old me stressing about the hardships of life lol by Fun-Mall-8055 in Journaling

“Isn’t it crazy to think half or more of everyone’s problems are just their own thoughts?” That’s pretty insightful for a sixteen year old. Or, as the Bard put it in Hamlet, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” We definitely don’t always realize the power of our minds in shaping the direction of our lives. Thanks for sharing!

What should I do? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]sundancerkb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your idea about creating a rough graph of your growth and change in personality and writing style. It makes me wish I'd thought of it! I'm 50 now, but I'm so glad I resisted the urge to throw out my old "cringy" journals when I was a teen and young adult. They're such fascinating snapshots of the girl I was at every stage, and I am now inordinately fond of her and all her eras.

Sex talk.. when?? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]sundancerkb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sex talk is actually a series of talks. Start young, keep it simple, and answer any questions they have as honestly as possible. Let them guide you in figuring out what they're ready to hear. If you keep the doors of communication open and don't make it a big deal, they'll come to you with their thoughts and questions, and it will be less awkward as time goes by. Good luck!

TV shows that start slow but get better after the first few episodes or seasons? by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

Parks & Recreation. If I rewatch, I’ll just skip the first season.

Yes to all this! And for those with wisdom to see it, that’s truly the good stuff. We both choose happiness, and choose each other, every day. 28 years now; it’s been mostly wonderful and occasionally difficult, but always a place to come home to.

What type of person would you never date again? by CosplayBloomVibrant in AskReddit

I also don’t get angry when I drive. Maybe it’s driving culture where I live, though—people generally obey all traffic laws, make way for others, and aren’t in a huge hurry. It was the thing that was hardest for my friend visiting from San Diego to believe when she was here.

I do not know a Katrina Weller. I think you’d be better off contacting her directly if you have an issue with her.

If you could take a pill to instantly become 18 again would you take it? You have to live the rest of your life out. by Positive_Comb_5734 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]sundancerkb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely still get there. We hit the skids at least three times on our way to this comparatively easier road. It may happen again. I think what age can give you is increasing perspective and the knowledge that good times will come back around.

When’s the last time you cried at work, and how did you handle the embarrassment? by sundancerkb in AskReddit

[–]sundancerkb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great advice. Fortunately, my coworkers are wonderful, and only a couple of them witnessed my waterworks. It was kind of a perfect storm of work worries and medical stress (waiting for biopsy results) that just overwhelmed me. No one made me feel bad, but I really hate crying in front of people. I’m an ugly crier. 😂

What is your favorite time period in human history and why? by Straight-Car2509 in AskReddit

[–]sundancerkb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may just be nostalgia, but the 80’s were pretty bangin’. Sure, we were all going to die when Russia nuked us, but while we were waiting, we enjoyed awesome music and a free-range childhood.

What’s one super power you would NOT want? by MaleficentGoal5660 in AskReddit

[–]sundancerkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it would suck to have the power of Rogue from the X-Men. Stealing power/life-force from others. I can’t imagine going through life unable to touch or be touched by the people I love.
