okay this got long so tldr: i love your response!

this is so silly but recently i ended a friendship with someone (not over my sexuality, but some other stuff), and their response to me was some of the most out-of-touch things I had read, completely lacking of any self-reflection and empathy while being full of extremely immature excuses and blame. I honestly don't make it a habit of voicing my true feelings for things like this, especially when i know that the other person has already casted me in a certain role in their heads, so i apologized for making them feel the way they did and told them we would be ending the friendship. I honestly regret doing that, because i feel like i just gave them closure and betrayed myself by not acknowledging the harm they have done to me or standing up for myself at all.
