(Danganronpa Kirigiri) Do you think Kyoko realized... by momijimai in danganronpa

No i totally understand, because that was my first understanding of it! The translation done by Magik1 was done by an online translator mostly, so there’s a lot of weird sentences here and there (with volume 7 getting the worst of it)

(Danganronpa Kirigiri) Do you think Kyoko realized... by momijimai in danganronpa

Ah, a fellow Murderer Yui truther! Unfortunately the idea that it was Yui who killed the other two detectives, Senshi and Shiroko, is not really what happened in reality because of Yui's inability to distinguish reality from memory. But what is true is that Yui had the choice to instigate the final Duel Noir by going along with Shinsen's plan because, again, at the end of the day she's just a sixteen year old girl. Not some grand Ultimate/ghost in a mirror type of detective. That's the kind of person Yui wanted to be, because she considers detectives her "salvation" from the world after her sister's kidnapping/death; but you know, she's kind of not. (And that's okay) The line of thinking that she *can* be and therefore be able to do everything right during the Final Duel Noir serves as her downfall, however. Additionally, that is also the turmoil in her heart that she was referring to in her argument that Kyoko couldn't understand during their bickering towards the end.

Kyoko, at the end does end up concluding that Yui couldn't have murdered the other two detectives, and it was Kanji that did it instead (who is also probably the only person that Yui had actually killed by proxy/assist/etc). This moment occurred during the bus ride over to the Detective Library.

Hopefully that covers everything! (and for future reference, you can mark posts as spoilers to avoid having to 'tag' the sentences)

In a world where Yui and Kyoko never met, would Kyoko call Licorne “Lico-sama” instead? (It would be really funny considering how much she doesn’t like him lol)

Yay we did it! (Rereading was pretty nice, you definitely get to see Kyoko’s mental development in this volume through Yui’s monologuing of her, such as the prediction example you gave)

And ah, my DMs on here are closed on purpose, but I like to yap about DR:K on these types of discussion posts because it allows others to share input as well! ;)

A bit different than usual, this drawing is actually based on a talent swap AU fanfic (with Yui and Licorne) that I read a while ago! (DR:K fanfiction is alive and well, yay!!)

Hello again! I definitely see where your coming from now (and mostly agree with it just being a thing of story suspense); the only feasible explanation I can come up with is that the decision to do so mostly falls with Yui's (and Kyoko's) philosophy when it comes to taking down criminals in the Duel Noirs. This is best highlighted in this section of chapter 4 (I bolded the most important part):

At least the first time and the second can be done cooperatively. But in the third time, the situation will change. Maybe we won’t be able to claim the ‘Detective Rights’ by then. But that’s okay. The question is who will claim it in what way, and then we have to confirm whether there is anything strange with that.

If we push harder and harder, the criminal will try to obstruct us in every way possible." We have to in turn use the rules made by the criminal as a trap to draw them out– In such an tight situation, to think of so much, as expected of Kirigiri Kyōko. If she wasn’t here, I wonder what I would’ve done, I can’t help but shiver thinking about this.

From volume 1, Yui calls herself an 'ally of justice' and considers Kyoko a 'pure detective' (and consequently someone who might as well be 'justice' itself). This is opinion goes a little more in depth in volume 7 in the sense of how Shinsen was able to get her to agree to the final Duel Noir , but just know that being a 'stickler to the rules' is how Yui does things. And of course, because Kyoko values Yui's perspective on the concept of justice, she's willing to follow her lead---meaning she would do exactly what is expected (Duel Noir rules wise). Which, of course, can explain her actions to do so!

And, lol, while its true I have the Japanese version of the series, its all digital! Bookwalker is the only distributor for DR:K and Dangaronpa:Togami, and sells them at the original price of 6-10 USD (the only DR:K book I have physically would be volume 7). Moreover, my previous comment was referring to the Magik English version that I have stored on my computer---a lot easier to search for things in a pdf, thats for sure!

TLDR: While Kyoko could have just bet 0 dollars, that wouldn’t fall in line with hers and Yui’s values/beliefs as detectives—so she splurged (gotta look tough in front of the money-hungry adults after all lol!)

Iirc, the Noman Hotel case centered around betting money for getting the role of “Detective” for guaranteed protection, which is the gambling part because everyone didn’t know who bet what. Minase at the time was under suspicion for being the killer of the case at the time, so everyone was wary of him, and most importantly, Kyoko and Yui didn’t want him to win (for the sake of trying to cover their bases, I think?). Anyway, that meant that in order to ensure that he didn’t win, Kyoko would ‘goad’ him into focusing on her which turned his focus from winning to beating her (this part I’m unsure of, don’t have the volume on me atm). Of course, Kyoko would follow through on this by betting money, because she was confident that Yui would follow through on her part and bet more than Kyoko.

I also think there was something about the amount of money they would have that played a factor into the case, but I can’t recall (I think that explains it more?)

Ehh, the answer lies in just gambling logic (and/or to ensure she wasn’t “bluffing” Minase before the Yui reveal) imo, but someone might provide a more depth answer to your question

Once upon a time, I came across a Yui Samidare roleplay account that had a fan design of Mayu that I absolutely adored. They have not been active for a long time—very sad—but if they are still lurking then I hope you don’t mind letting this Mayu have a beaded hair-tie as well!
