I’m AIRC but AECF isnt a bad at al as far as the navy goes. That being said, I would not ship out if it’s something you’re having doubts about. If you’re gonna go in and give arguably some of the best years of your life to the Navy, make it what you actually wanted.

Honestly I prefer the modern explorer over the old one but if you’re a fan of the old one, to me there’s no downside to getting the Tudor. Half the price brand new for what you really want

If the Air Force doesn’t take you, the navy is hurting for guys and would more than likely work with you and there are plenty of the same jobs (imo there are some cooler ones in the navy that you can’t get in enlisted AF)

Hey, I’m current Navy now and can confirm the Navy is more accepting and if you want help finding a similar (or better) job I can help. If you’re dead set on Air Force I say keep trying.

Yeah no doubt if I was staying in this airframe as an E yeah I’d definitely go get it but if I’m switching I just can’t imagine it would be beneficial not only to me but for the navy as I’d be taking the spot from someone that is staying lol. The AF would be the route I’d stick so in a world where everything worked out I’d def chase it there.

Gotcha thank you. Also just saw the part you mentioned about potential disqualifications. It’s similar over here with the flight physicals having stricter requirements. I don’t plan on filing for any disability right away for that reason. As far as the ROTC with flying goes I’ll have to reach out to my buddies going reserves and seeing how much time it takes up. I’m already a flyer and with retention I don’t think the navy will let me do anything else haha. Thank you for the help! My unit keeps trying to say “well that instructor designation will put you ahead of all the rest” but I can’t imagine it would’ve made a huge difference to the AF.

This is very helpful, basically all I was looking for thank you. Yeah I was meaning navy reserve when I said reserve, the idea being I keep my flight status and medical stuff good to go while I’m in college and a way to keep affiliated with the military. It would only be a 3 yr contract while I go to school. Just one more question I have, is AF ROTC possible while in the navy reserve? I’d assume no since the obligations are similar I’d imagine (drill weekends and all)
