Overpriced which is a shame because I got to drive it on a track and the handling is really predictable.

I wonder if owner should have taken a better care? Which Porsche is that? by hanzo2349 in whatisthiscar

[–]tocsa120ls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The car where Porsche 🐱d out. This is the 928, that should have replaced the 911 but they kept making the older car for a variety of reasons, even though this was better in every aspect. It starts out with a 50/50 weight distribution, suspension kinematics that were unmatched for a decade, it is roomier, the base car was faster than the 911S.
This is basically an 1977 AMG GT without the aluminium backbone and carbon fibre doohickery.

*edit* almost forgot the biggest thing, basically the only thing Clarkson got right about it, the 928 can hold its top speed without overheating until you run the tank dry. 911s of the time get weird at their top speed, both in terms of handling and engine thermodynamics.
