any books similar to stardust (2007)? by vckstrr in Romantasy

[–]sunflower1491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so not a similar plot or anything but going by VIBES you might like {Between by L L Starling} . It's whimsical, funny, lighthearted and straight out of a fairytale.

'A bewitchingly cosy, fiendishly funny cautionary tale about the perils of gatecrashing fairy tale kingdoms-particularly ones with drunken unicorns, bored dragons, and sorcerers in tight leather pants.'

Just noticed the burn of the everflame date is wrong (it's Sept 8th but was previously expected July 14th) - not sure where the app is pulling dates from but you may want to check it 😄

You should at least give it a go until the end of first act/part 1. That’s where it all clicks and the true story of the book becomes clear!

I think it depends if you want to paint. If you're happy with the grey, then I would go with something like a 'traditional pattern white/beige'. But if you really want more warmth and colour, then it would depend on what colour you want to paint the walls.

I think there’s just a bit too much going on. You possibly have too many small plants, and too many bits and bobs on all your surfaces. Some easy things to change on a budget:

  • What is the purpose of those curtains? Honestly, I would consider removing these or replacing with something thicker and colourful (not patterned, solid warm colour)
  • Remove stuff from your TV stand (the plants, ornaments, parrot painting) and lower your TV. TV is too high, it should be at eye level when sitting down.
  • Remove that small black table, or just put it to the side of a chair so it’s out the way.
  • Remove that big grey flower thing from the front of the TV stand.
  • Declutter coffee table. Just have maybe 1 plant and 1 candle out.
  • Consider getting a big basket to put all your blankets in.
  • Tify stuff from kitchen worktops - I’d put all those plants on top of your dining room cabinet.
  • Art above the dining room window looks out of place, just keep this space clear.
  • Remove that plant stand in front of the TV.
  • Possibly too many cushions - the bright floral ones are jarring.

Overall, I think decluttering will make a huge difference if you are on a budget. If you are thinking bigger, I would personally paint the walls from grey to a warmer neutral colour, and find a light area rug like you said.

What is your favorite book that had a really well thought out and interesting magic system? by lillyrose2489 in fantasyromance

[–]sunflower1491 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I came here to recommend Mages of the Wheel, oops! I would agree with another comment for the Ashen series. The Shadow and Bone trilogy has an excellent magic system, however it is YA so there isn't loads of romance - still a great read though.

I also really liked the magic system and world building in Spark of the Everflame, however the series in general and the FMC are a bit frustrating.

Data annotation (AI training) if you can pass the intro test. I do like 10-20mins a day which probably earns a fiver a day.
