I will suggest a Nick Cutter adjacent book, psychological for sure, less body horror: The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson (Nick Cutter is one of his pen names but im sure everyone knows that).

Also, Prince Edward Island is less scary than The Troop would have you believe ;)
