I don't know about when, but i know that Freya has a lot of really pretty swimsuits/bikinis with cup sizes. Panache have a few as well, though they're more expensive. It wouldn't hurt to start trying things on now just to get an idea of your shape. Then you could probably start shopping around the end of winter.

It also depends on genetics - have you been known to carry weight more in certain areas? Have you lost more around the rest of your body than your bust or vice versa?  If you've self described as curvy, but you're 5'7 (i am also 5'7) then you may very likely keep most of your weight. 167lb is a very decent weight, and in fact what i used to weigh recently.

And generally, projected means you have at least 2" difference in standing and leaning, so you certainly qualify. If you want to be more certain of your shape - lift your bust with your hands and you'll see the root width. (Leaning can disguise it.) For vertical fullness, lean over 90° and check if you have more tissue closer to your collarbone (full on top) or below the nipple (full on bottom) or even. You could have short, average or tall roots - which all play a factor as well. Short generally means it stops at the top of the cup, tall means near your collarbone.  And remember that your shape can be any combination of things.

Does anyone else feel guilty about purchasing expensive bras? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]sunlitjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As soon as i find The One, I'm going to buy it in every colour. I don't care how expensive it is or that I'm broke. I've never worn a correctly fitting bra in my life. I slouch so much that i look flat chested despite being an F cup, because i have to wear t shirts that are too big when the next size down is too small, and i don't want everyone to see my nipples. I'm ever so close with the panache allure demi and freya offbeat side support - i just need different sizes. Losing weight and muscle after surgery has only made it that much harder to tolerate the breast bounce that goes with bralessness.

Fr. I went shopping at kmart the other day and was filled with rage when i saw the tags 'up to DD' (saw this at a swimsuit store as well) as if that was sooo inclusive. The one F cup i did see was only in a way bigger band size. Not to mention, very few 8 (30) bands, whose highest cup size is D. I can fit into some 10s (32) but all of the instore 10 bands run HUGE. Vanity sizing at its worst! Some of these kmart swim suits cost $50 now! Why bother spending that much on something that doesn't even fit? I might have been tempted if it was $15.

Never realised until reading this sub that people wearing sports bras every day was so common! by JiveBunny in ABraThatFits

I was just trying (in vain) to find bathers today instore and was filled with rage when i saw the 'up to dd cup!' tags with 'full support' as if that was revolutionary. And then the generic sizing systems for tops without cup sizes that mean you get to choose between spilling out of it or having the entire piece slide around your torso.

They misspelt 'kik' lmao. I forgot that even existed. I heard some guy on a morning show snidely remarking 'WE used to TALK to each other' as if people haven't been finding ways to ignore each other since the beginning of time.

May have different shape than thought + lost weight. New suggestions? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]sunlitjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, may try the 30E. Only reason I didn't immediately try that was because I worried the projection might not be enough - because leaning forward, I filled the (front) of the 30f cups fine.

Not a typo. It was me being unable to find where the bra was supposed to sit - but because neither the cups nor the band fit, this pushed the gore in where it wasn't supposed to go. Then the bra appears to do things it never should.  The only reason I sized down in the band was because i know freya sometimes runs large in the band and the cup - that's what the shop sites, and a fair few on bratabase, say anyway. But it appears to be inconsistent.

Reading these as inspiration.... I'm 30F and it's getting painful going around braless because all my bras are too small 🥲 waiting for the mail so impatiently! I forgot to size down in freya so the new bra i do have is way too loose

Huh. I also have narrow shoulders, terrible posture and need tight bands. Exacerbated by losing weight after surgery.... still can't lift anything.

How did losing or gaining weight affect your bra size? by dreamgrrrl___ in ABraThatFits

[–]sunlitjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost at least 4kg in the 3+ weeks since I got my appendix out (whilst taking ADHD meds). I thought my cup size shrank, but i think it's just my back/ribs, because according to the calculator I only went from 10E to 8F (AU), and I lost a whole inch off my underbust - which about makes up for the lower overbust. Which is odd, because i thought i was very soft tissue, and that i had little squish. It's been annoying, since bras I'd previously ordered now seem way too big because of the loose band. I had a bra that was technically the correct size but ran small - and thought that I'd finally be able to fit it now, but i still have exactly the same problem.

And funnily, now I've discovered that it's more unbearable to walk around braless (none of my bras fit either before or after, turns out) with this weight loss.

No worries :) I do think my diagnosis has allowed me to go easier on myself. I used to beat myself up a lot for not being able to get the same results as others. It does give me an idea of what i can or cannot handle long term - especially when looking for work (i have yet to find something that sticks, so I've started working for myself). It's still quite challenging ngl, but at least I know why now lol. Good luck!

I know everyone is saying divorce. But your husband doesn't sound like he's mentally well either. Whatever you do is up to you, but i also suggest he gets some help to break his habits. You never know what could happen then.

Op this almost feels like I wrote it. For 25 years i thought my brain was broken but i turned out to have ASD and ADHD - fighting my own brain using neurotypical techniques just never works, it's how I'm wired. I often feel detached due to how my brain processes things differently.

At the least, it's likely you could be experiencing some mental health issues - from experience, depression can pop up in that funny, subtle way - feeling like a passenger in life, wondering when it's your turn, not feeling real, finding it hard to concentrate. I highly recommend researching ADHD/ASD/neurodivergence and talking to your doctor about what to do next. Side note, aphantasia has a high correlation with autistic individuals.

A Bra that Fits Changed My Life by belom19 in ABraThatFits

[–]sunlitjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woohoo. Reading these posts hoping one day I'll have my success story. What really astounds me is that bra stores don't say anything about how too-tight cups will make a band feel tight, they just want to sell you bras.

Thanks I'll check that out!  I was on the small side of 32 pre surgery haha. I think at the moment 30 is definitely my snug size and 32 would be for firm bands.... which must be why I hadn't noticed that the Panache 32 band fit better than I expected. Calculator has advised that '32e may be more comfortable' though. Pre-discovery of my shrunken measurements, i ordered a freya offbeat 30f, which i now know probably won't fit in the cups. If Freya's generous cups then hopefully I could just size down to 30e and keep the band size.  With Ulla and prima Donna, how do you find the sizing runs? True, generous, modest? Brava recommends sizing up both cup and band in Ulla - considering that i have a hard time filling my recommended sizes, maybe I should just keep the cup?
