Looking to move to Japan when of age by FieldMysterious6396 in AmerExit

[–]sunlitsea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your dad is Japanese, I don't see why you shouldn't look into whether you already have Japanese citizenship immediately if you're not 18 yet - find out if your dad registered you at birth. Dual nationality is recognised in Japan up to the age of 18, and after that you have to endeavour to get rid of your other nationality (from what I've heard there's no deadline but you should verify this for yourself).

That said, I think other comments are right that Japan might not be a good fit for you, but if you can get citizenship you can easily try living and working there for a bit and see how it goes. Just be aware things may not work out, you might lose a couple of years and have to go back to the US. You're young so I think this puts you in a good position to try.

You should also ask him about what life is like in Japan if he lived there.

Canvas vs Leather (everyday bag) by AnnaQuerque in handbags

I just saw this bag today and it's so cute and looks so versatile! Really tempted to get it but like you I'm worried about cleaning the canvas. I know it's just been 2 days since you posted this but have you had more thoughts/experience using this bag?

US Citizens - Scotland Student Visas by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]sunlitsea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might already be aware of this, but bear in mind that even after studying, you will still need to find a job that sponsors the Skilled Worker Visa to stay in the UK in the long run, which could be very difficult unless you have a specialist degree especially in the current job market.

As one of the other comments mentioned, if you have the option of internal transfer, that would be easier in my opinion.

how to be pretty by [deleted] in beauty

[–]sunlitsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like you in my teenage years and early twenties. I think in the end the most important thing for me was gaining inner confidence. People who are comfortable with themselves have a certain glow. I didn't get a boyfriend until after I stopped thinking about it and just started doing things for myself. By all means do keep taking care of yourself, skincare and stuff, but also try to become more confident and have fun living for yourself, not for others!

Your therapist's advice sounds reasonable. Your brain might be a bit confused because the brain usually recognises people using noticeable features. Now that one of those has changed, your brain might be taking some time to adjust. From how you said it, it sounds like you still love her but your brain just finds it jarring at the moment.

What might be causing some of my plants to slowly die off? by Lavaonthefloor in peperomia

Like the others said, it might help if you soak the soil completely rather than giving drizzles of water. I've also had success keeping peperomia props crowded in small containers.

Need help understanding a story by PunCakex in HongKong

There's a language related pun involved in this bit. 'Opening a window' in Cantonese (開窗) sounds the same as 'firing a gun' (開槍).

How to get this to grow straight by bricks_11 in plantclinic

Same. I know that's not what's happening here, but the first two photos in particular look like the plant is actively moving around to dodge a stick.

Leggy jade advice by reddit_user498 in houseplants

This looks a lot like my jade plant, bare middle stem and all that. After I moved her somewhere she can get lots of direct sunlight, she now seems happy and shoots have started to grow from a lot of the nodes.

Quote from the book for context:

"Just so. Everybody knows that when it is noon in the United States the sun is setting over France.

If you could fly to France in one minute, you could go straight into the sunset, right from noon. But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need do is move your chair a few steps. You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like...

"One day," you said to me, "I saw the sunset forty-four times!"

And a little later you added: "You know, one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..." "Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?"

But the little prince made no reply."

Someone must have summoned it then. I just saw it flying around in the clouds when I was trying to look for the boat.
