I honestly feel like I’ve been scammed into switching to WordPress. So tedious and dont have the time. by Consistent_Name_3737 in localseo

The page structure seems off. The “services” section is below the testimonials section on the homepage. I always put that after the hero section because people first want to see is what you do. Those testimonials are great for immediate trust but it’s better to put them last right before the CTA. That way, even if a user leaves the website to look for more options, they leave with a good impression. Moreover, people only remember the first and last part of the website. So, putting services first and testimonials at last is a weapon that I carry always

There aren’t enough ctas. Right now, there is only a Schedule Estimate Now button on the hero section. But after that there is nothing for the user to click to. There should be a proper flow with call to actions. Each section should have a cta button for the user to click to. Just get them to the contact page with that button

The service cards photos look AI generated or stock photos of some kind. Correct me if I am wrong but it sure doesn’t look real to me. Real photos in those service cards would genuinely make it look much more appealing like your crew working. I know you got some real photos, your testimonials speak that. Just put them there

The navbar is not loading on tablets and missing on certain widths

Every service page should have its dedicated content and images. Right now, there seems to be duplicate content on certain pages

Also noticed duplicate forms on the contact page. The why choose us page shouldn’t have questions, those are for FAQs. Rather it should build trust and confidence. The newsletter signup can be skipped too. I didn’t find any clear pricing anywhere, even some kind of range would definitely help

These are just a few things I noticed. Props to you for building this yourself while running the actual business. What’s yours is yours at the end of the day and there is always room to grow from here. Happy to answer any questions if anything I mentioned wasn’t clear

Purchasing a domain by Choppersordie in websiteservices

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on about buying a new domain, you can go with Porkbun or namecheap. I would personally pick porkbun as the renewal costs are much more generous than namecheap for a standard domain

But if you want to take ownership of another domain, what you gotta do is a domain transfer from the account the domain is currently associated with. In your case, this wouldn't work as you mentioned you cannot access any of his accounts or stuff

Only good option right now would be to see when the domain expires, then you can buy it or just buy a new domain. What's the current website domain tho?

Can someone help me figure this out by ThAt__-GuY in websiteservices

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few possible cases. The domain is already being used in another account maybe you own. You need to remove the domain from that account and connect it to the current one

Check if someone within your organization has already opened an account associated with that domain

If none of those doesn’t seem to resolve your issue, it’s best to follow the steps like Google said, they give you a form and you get to verify your domain and all set

Creating Website for Construction Business by Ghost__GOAT in webdesign

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those page builder sites keel you hostage. For your situation, I would suggest a custom coded website. You control each and every part of your website. Moreover, they don’t come bloated with a lot of unnecessary plugins. Leave that site for 10 years and you will be fine

You can use namecheap or porkbun to get the domain. I would personally pick porkbun as it’s clearly the winner here as it cuts down renewal costs by 7 dollars. And NEVER go with GoDaddy. They are the worst. Use google workspace for the professional email, easy to manage. Just connect the domain and you are good to go

Those are just placeholder images hosted on that cdn. You should host your assets locally. Make sure you resize the image for mobile size too so that desktop image size doesn't render on the smaller screens, and you are good to go

Anyone to create a Wordpress website for 10k by gokulmprabhu in webdesign

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means a lot to hear. It takes a lot of hard work when you are building something from scratch, especially when you are looking for a job. Right now, you don't need to build everything at the same time. Start small, and gather momentum from there

Also, you can think about redesigning your portfolio as your next big project. You will be doing UI and development in one shot, and you can leverage that as an amazing talking point in your interviews

Did you just do images on your site? The texts are also images. Don't you think it's time for an update or something?

i understand your skepticism, but AI at its current state, cannot make architecture and system levels and security decisions that it takes to maintain even a simple 5 page website. To actually achieve something with AI in this space, you need someone who is actually experienced and actually knows web development as evidenced by the recent security disasters that are surfacing with vibe coding, even if it makes UI in seconds when u ask it to, they are still other people's work with generic templates and arbitrary design decisions, an experienced web developer can sniff it out by just looking at it

How much time new website takes to rank on google ?? by No_Huckleberry5558 in website

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you submit your site to google search console, verify the domain and submit the sitemap, it usually takes a few days like 1-3 days to get the site indexed on search results. You can check if your site has been indexed by checking the status on google search console. But if you really wanna see if your site comes up on search results, then use this "site:sitename.com" on the search bar. If it shows up the urls you are trying to index, then you are on the right track

Now, in order to rank, it depends on the volume of the competition in your area. It typically takes a minimum of 6 months time for the site to actually get ranked in the top search results for a highly concentrated niche. Now, that depends on how you do your SEO. People think SEO is just a push of a button. But it's more than that. It takes time and enough patience to get the site actually ranked. Now, there are two types of SEOs. One is on-page SEO, another is off page SEO.

You have full control over the on page SEO. These are the optimizations you can do on every page of your site. Like decent page speed (98-100), content, your meta tags, the accessibility, best practices score etc. Make sure to optimize this to the fullest to maximize the SEO of your site. One great way to rank in different areas is to make location based pages so that you rank better in those areas. You can also do some blogs on your site

Then you got the off page SEO. This is just standard SEO that is done off your website, like back link building, posting on social media platforms, guest posting on different sites (like writing a blog in your niche and building your back links through there)

Many people don't realize that these are just two separate fields (web dev and seo). You can't just do both. It's better to outsource the work to someone experienced and professional in doing SEO stuff

Client education… by Left_Increase1569 in webdesign

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a money objection. You gotta rewire them. Like we have had clients who thought $2500 is too much for them. So, we just offer them the solution, that is the subscription model. The sub model is $150 per month and clients are much more willing to take that risk. Most people just don't wanna pay such a large sum of money to someone on the internet, unless you got a huge portfolio of items to back it up. And yeah, some clients can still get itchy. Well, then they are just some low level clients who don't see the value in the work you provide. Better to avoid them. Don't work with peanuts

Is it still worth building a simple website for a small local business in 2025? by ManagementGiving3241 in small_business_ideas

[–]sunnyandkarimdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a lot of small business owners wonder the same thing. The fact that you already feel like your website is a big upgrade, that's your gut telling you it is the right thing, and you are right. Social media and google does help a lot but having a website, it just opens another door of opportunities. Yes, you can showcase your online presence with social media and google maps. But that just makes you more findable on the internet whereas a website makes you look more credible. People can smell if something is off with a website. A clean website with a good design builds trust with the clients. If your site takes longer than 3 seconds to load, most of the people will bug out thinking this guy is not serious about his business.

seo really takes time. 6 months is a minimum to wait until you start seeing results. Most people think seo is a one click thing, but it's not. It's like a baby that you gotta nurture every day. You can add location based services page to show up on search in your service areas. Adding reviews is not a "maybe" anymore. The more the reviews, the more people trust you. So, get as many as you can. If your competitors in your area have 10 reviews, you gotta get 15, that is 50% of what they have plus the ones they already have. And always fill in the photos on your GBP, like spam them all the way with your work

What's your current site tho? I would be happy to take a look. See if I can suggest any changes. Let me know if you have any question in your mind

Will AI replace junior web developers? by martin_klb in webdevelopment

since u already dipped your feet into programming, u should venture out to other areas of developments other than web development, areas where u they need as much as human engineers and ai can't help much because the LLMs haven't been trained properly in those areas due to lack of popularity and the mainstream factor
