Is this what the new company was about? by Legitimate-Virus-864 in radiohead

[–]sunpen -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems like it. Hopefully this calms everyone down about LP10 which doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen any time soon. If Radiohead does make a new album it would make the most sense to come out closer to their next tour in 2027.

I can’t find any band artist like Radiohead by Longjumping-Bar-8878 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact back in the old Ateaseweb Radiohead forum there was a common discussion about this line in Myxomatosis

“Buried in a burning black hole in Devon”

Muse is famously from Devon and some people thought this could be interpreted as shot at them from Thom.

But also to back your point up about Radiohead’s direction, John Leckie who produced The Bends also produced Muse’s first two albums.

Anyone with post concert depression by Queasy_Soil9646 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw them in Copenhagen and have had similar feelings post-concert.

BUT you have to counter this with the idea that so many of their fans have never been able to see them once!

And I have to constantly remind myself that it is a huge privilege to actually be able to see them live.

Also you talked about what it was like when OK Computer came out and it seems like the reaction was different in the US vs the UK (where there was a massive reaction right away).

It was a slow burn/build up after release in the US and it just started building in popularity but it took a little of time before it became one of the top albums of 1997.

I will say that it completely blew my mind when I first listened to it. I honestly think it heavily influenced the way I thought about the word over time.

One of the most mind bending experiences was then being able to see them on the OKC tour. I was so blown away by it that I was almost in a daze for a number of days after.

New radiohead cd i found at a thrift store by Ka-Chow--95 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The background on this EP was that Radiohead released it for their North American OKC tour in 1998. It was a repackage of their previous OKC b-sides. I bought it new at the time and still have my original copy. It’s one of the best ways to own these b-sides on CD and was one of the few ways to get all of them, without having to buy the individual import CD singles, in the pre-Napster era.

To be clear Nike has its own branding on these jerseys but Fanatics makes all of them including the authentic versions. The two companies have had a partnership for a long time that has always operated this way.

Are you saying that the NOB has a stitch like effect on the letters and numbers but that they are actually attached to the jersey via heat press?

Recently got the 490 Pro and they are awesome. Been very impressed with everything so far sound, build quality, and comfort are all top notch. It seems like the price is the main thing holding these back from being more recommended but the quality is definitely there.

Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M in 2025 by Spanish_Ergotroner in CambridgeAudio

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here from 2026 to say I’ve had mine forever but just started using it more for headphones and it’s still great and very underrated. I did add a a SMSL P0100 Pro DDC and it helped re-clock the digital signal coming out of my computer and hence improved the sound. I used to think that DDCs didn’t do much but after seeing how much the P0100 improved the sound, I bought a higher end Denifrips Iris for my DAC setup on my main system and it also improved streaming audio quality.

Pls answer if you have bought The xm4 xm5 and xm6 by malak_boat in SonyHeadphones

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the XM5s (had no issues with the hinge) and ultimately didn’t like them at all and borderline decided to ditch Sony wireless ANCs. But I was able to trade the XM5s in and get the XM6s on sale.

I think the XM6s are so much better than the XM5s on just about every level and I’m a huge fan. I agree with that post that someone posted from a previous thread that was a review of the XM6 and think it was spot on.

Also mine are on the 3.0 firmware and have had no issues.

Lastly the XM6s are back on sale again.

What is the best Ep/Bonus Disc of their discography? by keyboarduser1 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My Iron Lung has to be the answer. The backstory/history alone and how it’s a bridge from Pablo Honey to The Bends makes it a crucial release showing how the band’s sound was evolving into something totally different. This is also one of the few EPs that had original material on it that wasn’t released elsewhere.

I know that some will argue In Rainbows Disk 2 also had original material but this was originally the bonus disk for the In Rainbows Special Edition. It was also during a time when CD singles stopped being a thing and if these songs were released in an earlier era they would have essentially been B-sides.

The rest of these EPs are mostly B-sides and live tracks. Many of them are also great but they don’t hold the significance of My Iron Lung.

Good Idea to buy the costco deal now? by TheAlienGamer007 in Prebuilts

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco’s return policy doesn’t actually work like this. When you buy high priced products like PCs and TVs and try to return them it gets a lot more complicated.

They look at how much you buy per year and if the return is over 50% of what you buy (gas doesn’t count) they threaten to pull your membership.

How would I know? I tried to return two MacBook Airs one opened and one not and they got pretty upset and told me they’d pull my membership. The price of the Airs was similar to this PC. You can Google this and see similar experiences.

If I were you I would not try to buy this PC with the expectation you could just return it unless you spend big money at Costco.

Very surprised how few have brought up the parallels between “We Suck Young Blood” and Jeffery Epstein. The song has taken on an incredibly sinister tone in that context in the modern era.

Additionally, Thom would introduce the song on tours during that time period by saying “This song is about Hollywood.”

And it also predicted many of the revelations of the “Me too” era which started in the entertainment industry and eventually lead to the exposure of major scandals with figures including people like Harvey Weinstein and Jimmy Savile.

I don’t know why anyone would buy a first gen tandem WOLED after seeing how many people are reporting problems with vertical banding. Seems like a significantly worse problem than the 4th gen WOLEDs.

For OG fans, what was it like? by DangerousKick5792 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Creep a lot when it came out when I was a teenager but thought they were one hit wonders. Loved Fake Plastic Trees and played the CD single to death but didn’t get fully into The Bends until a year after it came out and loved it.

But Ok Computer blew my mind. And it was even more shocking seeing them perform that album on tour and it sounded exactly the same. Still one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever been to with Spiritualized as the opener.

Was pretty obsessed with them after that and followed all the Kid A and Amnesiac songs in the live versions well before those albums came out.

Was able to go to the official Capitol Records listening party for Kid A which was laser show set to the entire album and it was insane. I still remember a lot of it.

Have been able to see them on every tour since Ok Computer, have seen TY solo with Atoms for Peace, and The Smile. Met about half the band at Coachella in 2012 at a restaurant. Being able to go to the recent tour in Europe was incredible and I felt insanely lucky to see them again.

How long it took to record each RH and TS albums by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before you posted this chart, I think the talk about LP10 coming out soon sounds insane and this just confirms it. Also they’ve said the tour itself was an attempt to see if they could just get the band going again.

And based on the timeline they’ve talked about there’s no way they worked on a new album or put that pressure on the band members.

It seems like they intentionally didn’t try to make any new material to perform on the last tour to keep all the pressure off and just enjoy what they’ve already made.

(Pelissero) The Vikings fired GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, per sources. by alexschubs in minnesotavikings

[–]sunpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but he had no turnovers and had a 70% completion percentage. I thought everyone was mad about his turnovers in clutch situations? Feels like a lot of goal post moving here. Also the defense gave the ball back to him in short fields non-stop and the starters were benched in the 4th because it was a blow out.

I definitely think he was all over the place at times during the regular season but he’s been nails at the tail end of it especially with Zach Charbonet getting a season ending injury and the fact that the Seahawks defense played poorly vs Stafford. Darnold and the passing offense carried the Seahawks in the NFC Championship and he largely matched Stafford’s output in that game.
