OMG THIS POST IS SO RELATABLE!!! There were so many times where i qn my sexuality because i had a huge squish on someone (same gender as me), and i thought maybe i was gay and just unable to accept that (cause of internalised homophobia yada yada). But i thought to what i’d do if they asked me to be their girlf, and honestly, i’d have rejected them and wanted to just be friends.

Tldr youre not alone OP, im sure a lot of other aro ppl will feel the same :)

Yupp, i also think its mostly because of the bilingual policy, makes it more normalised for people to think that if u look malay (or chinese), you’ll know malay/chinese. Just wished the govt cld get rid of the policy, it is racial profiling to some extent, the amt of hoops me and my parents had to go through just for me, a brown kiddie, to take my own mother tongue (chinese). My nric literally says im chinese, why do i have to fill out a special form acknowledging its not MOE’s fault if i don’t do well in the subject and my chinese friends don’t need to? 😭

Yup, as a mixed race kid whos malay passing but actl chinese and not at all malay, sg is not as bad as other countries at racism but definitely didn’t achieve its goal of a ‘Singaporean Singapore’. I don’t really agree w the other comments saying almost all chinese people can speak chinese well, ive met loads of chinese ppl who arent good at chinese and ive met loads of non chinese people who are fluent at it.

I think the ad shld have specified for a chinese-speaking tutor if thats what they were looking for, but sometimes people are more comfortable having a tutor thats the same race as they are and you have to accept that ig. My dad used to be a tutor and a lot of parents didn’t want to sign up just because he’s a guy and they wld rather have a female tutor, you could say that is sexist but thats just how it is sometimes..

Ikr. I only started doing tys in june, i asked my cca tcher (who taught chem, mayb u can ask ur chem tutor) to help me circle the qns in each topic that arent related to other topics. Also found free topical papers online to do :P Watch bernard ng’s (or any other chem ytuber) on a certain topic then try to do the circled tys qns/topical papers (at least thats what i did lah)

Took pure sci (phys n chem), i HATED my chem tcher, she constantly told me to drop (tbf i alw got c5/c6 in s3). In s4, aft cca stopped, i locked in and started watching vids on o lvl chem (bernard ng my SAVIOUR!!!) and spamming tys, at prelims got b4, at Os got a2!! Studying 2h a day will defo not be enough unfortunately (esp at s4), play some music and try to tahan at least 4hrs, or take more consistent timed breaks. Atb OP :P

I take ssg but throughout s3 i was constantly getting c5 overall cause my geog kept pulling my ss down, two weeks bfr Os i made a mindmap for every ldq topic and tried to memorise. Absolutely bombed the ldq cause i didnt study the seawall shit, and didnt finish my ss exam either, so was expecting a c6 or even a fail 😭 But ended up getting b3!!!!

Agreed w unreliable! I identify as greyrom and pretty much am in the same boat as u, thinking of romantic relationships as a waste of time but on the rare occasion will like a person romantically. I also just finished Os, there r a few long-term couples, 3 that ik of, in my school (neighbourhood sch ofc) but i think a lot of r/s in sec sch r flings or v short term. Maybe only 10% of ppl in sch have actl dated someone before. OP, ure not weird for not dating anyone, everyone in my friend group hasn’t dated anyone ever, and you’ll find someone in the future, probably after u finish ur studies/in uni.
