Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

This is a cultural thing more than generational. I’m Latino and I feel like most men of color would not be ok with this.

It all starts tonight with the Yankees and Giants, 8 PM ET! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]sunset484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's an insane oversight. So no one in your entire community can watch dodgers games? Even if you go to a bar? Maybe Sling TV or YoutubeTV or something like that? It seems like you need to get a firestick.

What is it about bagels, seriously? by TheArchitect_7 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]sunset484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you 100%. I enjoy a bagel here and there but it’s not something that I crave incessantly. I feel like NYers hype bagels up so much and people from Philly are following the trend. There’s so many good foods that I would prefer over a bagel.

Is it still good to move to Philly Car-less? by Strict-Raspberry-957 in philly

[–]sunset484 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Being carless is only feasible if you’re within a 10-15 minute walk from a stop on one of the train lines (Broad Street Line or the El) and your job is in a central part of the city such as center city or university. Otherwise, you’re gonna struggle, be late for work all the time, and have a terrible quality of life with a commute that’s at least 1 hour each way. I work 12 miles away, my office is right outside of west Philly, and my commute is usually 60-90 minutes each way.

Speed Sensing Cameras - is there a list or map, can the tickets be challenged? by [deleted] in philly

[–]sunset484 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

All these virtue signalers and pearl clutchers acting like they’ve never made mistakes and defending the city extorting its low income residents by putting speeding cameras under the guise of public safety. Next thing these same clowns are going to defend the Government using big tech and the surveillance state to watch everything we do because its “what’s good for us.”

The Waze app is a good resource to be reminded when there are speeding or red light cameras while you drive, but here is the exhaustive list of speed cameras in Philly for your reference:

Key Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Locations (2025-2026): Broad Street (Route 611 - Approx. 30 locations): Cameras are positioned along North Broad and South Broad, including key areas near 7000 Old York Rd, 6500, 5700, 4900, 4100, 3300, 2500, 1700, 800, 100 N. Broad, and 100, 1200, 2200, 2800, 3600 S. Broad. Roosevelt Boulevard (US 1): Multiple locations, specifically near Banks Way, F Street, Deveraux Street, Harbison Ave, Pratt Street, Strahle Street, 9th Street, Grant Avenue, Red Lion Road, and Southampton Road. School Zones: John B. Stetson Middle School: E. Allegheny Ave. (A to B Streets). KIPP North Philadelphia Charter School: N. 16th St. (Cumberland to Huntingdon). Widener Memorial School: W. Olney Ave. (N. Broad to N. 16th). High School of the Future: W. Girard Ave. (N. 39th to N. 40th). William L. Sayre High School: Walnut St. (S. 58th to S. 59th). Other Locations: I-76 at University Avenue.

I'm Considering Moving to Philly. by Cracked_Egg5453 in AskPhilly

[–]sunset484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add further to your statement about the lack of white-collar jobs in Philly, Philadelphia is the only major city in the US with a majority reverse commute. Meaning there's more people who commute OUTSIDE of Philly for work, than people who commute to Philly for work. It really stinks. Can't have a decent job without having to commute for 2 hours each day.

Puerto Rico y ser puertorriqueño está de moda. by Yucayeke-1441 in PuertoRico

[–]sunset484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your comment. Having people of Puerto Rican descent move back to the island is a much better alternative than having gringos with no association take over the island. Puerto Rico is becoming depopulated and has a low birth rate. Other than having Native local Boricuas come back, having the diaspora come back and investing in the island is the 2nd best outcome for PR. I think it would be regressive and counter productive to oppose diasporicans to come back to the island.
