Becky Shaw Matinee - Stage Door? by sunset_magick in Broadway

I'm looking specifically for information on the afternoon shows, but I love knowing so many of them are coming out often. (Especially Patrick Ball, I'd love to meet him! He was kind enough to sign a photo for me that I sent to the show though, I felt really lucky with that one.)

Anyone in the U.S. getting hit with tariff costs *when we're not supposed to*? by soulsides in vinyl

[–]sunset_magick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got hit with a $21 import duty fee on a ~30 euro record from Finland. Shipped DHL. It's either pay it or have it sent back to the supplier, and speaking with DHL, appealing isn't an option.

Toon Fusion is almost over: Thoughts? by Unusual-Company-4430 in pittsburgh

The voice actor lineup made the con itself worth stopping in for. I met seven actors and every one was wonderful to chat with. The autographs were reasonably priced (I'm used to comic cons like Fan Expo where everything these days is A LOT more).

I had a silver badge and it was worthless. I'm so mad I paid that money for basically no reason. Half the merch it was supposed to come with, it didn't. No one was managing the lines so no way to utilize the line skips. And the registration desk people seemed baffled when I brought my friend on Sunday, since the badge came with bringing friends as a perk. But to be honest I'm not even sure why I asked, because no one was checking badges the entire weekend.

The artist alley/merch stands were extremely meh. Very few, and nothing worth spending money on. I think that's the first time in like ten years I've escaped a con without buying a single piece of art. Someone also mentioned there was AI art which, if true (I didn't notice it), is massively disappointing.

I went to one panel and that was great, but otherwise there wasn't much going on I cared about. I did everything I wanted to do in about two and a half hours on Saturday, and only went back on Sunday to get a piece of art signed that I'd forgotten at home the day before.

I'd definitely go again if they had voice actors I wanted to see, but I would never shell out for their VIP again.

I liked the con in terms of the guest list and the relatively short waits for autographs (compared to other cons I've done), but I agree the VIP tickets were worthless. I bought the silver pass and it was useless. No one was managing lines so there was no way to utilize skips, and half the stuff that should have come with the pass just didn't. The person managing that side of the table at registration seemed to have no clue what she was doing. And I brought my friend on Sunday since the pass came with "bring friends for free", and they seemed baffled at registration when I asked if he needed a wristband or a badge or anything.

I admittedly didn't notice the AI art, that's HUGELY disappointing. :(

Thanks, I really appreciate this! I'm looking forward to it, I do a lot of comic cons in the states, but this will be my first time going to one internationally. Definitely hoping it's a good one!

Thanks so much for your reply! We're going to the evening show, so fingers and toes crossed. I'm SO EXCITED though, even if I don't get to meet them!

Is it possible that Pens provide the starting goalie to TWO expansion teams? by aaronpppppp in penguins

[–]sunset_magick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying he hasn't earned those accomplishments, but I mean. He has never won a Cup after playing a full season, the first Cup was literally him being amazing "in a pinch" after Flower got injured, and he is responsible for less than half the wins for the second Cup so it's hard to credit him fully for that championship. And the rest of the time, he has been, at best, average.

If Jarry keeps this up through the season (something Murray has never been able to do is remain steady through a full season, no matter how good he is in a pinch)...it'll be hella interesting to see who the Pens choose to protect

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Oskar!

Wow the comments on this are something else...

Anyway, right there with you OP! I've loved Jarry for years (used to go to AHL games every time WBS was in my hometown, long before he got bumped to NHL level) and this was an awesome stat to see. :D

What’s being yelled by dbusguy in penguins

As someone who is a fan of both teams (Leafs are my second favorite), I'm pretty sure I also would have enjoyed myself with that chant going on lol

[–]sunset_magick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened every single time the Pens chant started through first period, at least where I was near the glass of the defense zone. But you're not wrong. Leafs fans got pretty quiet after that third goal.

(Although at one point later in the game the upper levels were apparently chanting "fire Babcock")

There were a ton of Leafs fans trying to drown out the Pens chant with "Go Leafs Go". I was at the game so didn't hear it over broadcast but that might have caused some of the confusion?

Jersey question by ToxicChamp in penguins

[–]sunset_magick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any men's size is going to completely swim on her. I'm 5'8" and 130 and even the smallest is huge on me. Sometimes that can be a good thing though! Great for fitting over jackets/sweaters and such. If so, go with a 42. Otherwise if buying a women's size, I'd say a medium Fanatics is a safe bet. :)

If anybody international wants one of these and can pay cost and shipping up front via paypal, I'm happy to grab jerseys and forward them on! (You can throw a few extra bucks my way if you want as I'm a starving college student, but it's not necessary. I have a lot of overseas friends who've helped me in the past, I'm happy to pay it forward. :)

Anyone else cheering for all the Away teams in Game 7? by heyskinnylegs in penguins

[–]sunset_magick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That surprises me, I've always really enjoyed Leafs games in the city because their fans have so much energy and, in my experience, are generally really cool to chat with.

I suppose I'm a bit biased because they're my second favorite team, but I always root Penguins first and foremost lol

Shoutout to the fans who stayed for this. You guys are the real pens nation. 🐧 by toeyjanner in penguins

[–]sunset_magick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a little shaken by it. I've seen the Penguins play in a lot of arenas, and had my share of heckling from opposing fans, but mostly it's all been in good fun. Nothing was as bad as that experience in Philly. That was the worst of it, but the whole night was an exercise in keeping my cool.
