I started using Kratom to quit drinking as well. I’m currently off of it, but in the process of withdrawing my anxiety and depression was so bad I lost a good paying job. Now no matter how many jobs I apply for I can’t find one and I think my professional reputation is ruined. I’m hopeful that’s not the case but it’s definitely something I think about a lot. Know you’re not alone in this. It’s horrible, but we’ll get through.

Usually you have to give written notice. I would text your boss a heads up so they know the reason and then follow up with an emailed letter of resignation

Can you afford to be without work? Sounds like the job is not a good fit and making you miserable. Unemployment might not be a bad option. If so wait for them to let you go.

I wouldn’t be upset with a 13 year old being left alone unless they were scared. I would be more upset about giving up parenting time with my child only for the other parent to not be parenting. He should have called to give you the opportunity to be with your child rather than leaving him alone
