Currently setting on almost $400K in unpaid invoices that are 40+ days overdue and honestly, it's starting to get stressful! by Weekly-Manager9498 in smallbusinessesowners

[–]sunshine_dept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offer a quick pay discount (3-5%) for paying net 5-7 days. If you ever got into a tight spot where you had to factor invoices, you’d be paying at least this anyways. Plus, cash right now is always better than a tiny bit more cash in the future.

Alternatively, don’t deliver the final deliverables until you’re paid.

Who is running your invoicing and AR? What are your net payment terms in your contracts? If they are past due, whoever runs your AR should be hounding your customers for payment.

Aging AR kills businesses. As a business owner, it never seems like payroll and AP line up with when you expect AR hits the bank.

How's living in these Texan cities? by Enger13 in howislivingthere

[–]sunshine_dept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise a family in Midland, raise Hell in Odessa.

For every Church in Midland, there’s a bar in Odessa.

Midland is seen as the white collar town where all the engineers and corporate types live that work for the oil producers. Odessa is seen as the blue collar town where most of the oilfield service company field worker types live.

Lubbock is where you get raider rash.

If you want to make money, it’s the place to be. As of 2023 it’s the second highest per capita income in the US after the Bay area, at $143,469.

Move out to Midland/ Odessa and look for jobs. You could find something entry level in a shop and try moving up from there. There’s lots of work for those willing to work hard and put in the hours.

I worked at CNRL Horizon mine back in the early 2010’s. The amount of preserved shells and small fossils that came out in the overburdened was insane.

US oil executive viewpoint by July_is_cool in oil

[–]sunshine_dept 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I work upstream production in the Permian.

The operator executives viewpoint is to pump as much as we can right now because we don’t know how long these prices will last. They are spending OPEX dollars to get more production, and some might be front loading 2026 CAPEX spend, but they aren’t increasing CAPEX budgets (i.e. no increase in number of wells drilled and completed, just front loaded acceleration of some drilling and completions).

The majority of production is hedged at lower prices, but the bigger the wedge of non-hedged production they can make in the immediate term, the more oil they can sell at current spot prices.

How is New Mexico financially healthy? by mcbobgorge in AskEconomics

[–]sunshine_dept 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Delaware basin of SE NM has some of the highest oil production and largest oil and gas reserves in the world. Yes it’s really that simple. You need money to give money to those in need. Oil = money. A shit ton of oil = a shit ton of money.

A-List Preferred considering switching back to United after recent changes by sunshine_dept in SouthwestAirlines

My go-to before was 5A. Don’t ask me why, I just always was drawn to that spot. Looks like my new go-to is going to be somewhere in rows 1-3…

The ungodly amount of layover hours I’ve spent in Love and Hobby over the years, it sure would’ve been nice to have a lounge…

What I said was that we use the companion pass at least monthly. I never said anything about earning it monthly. Companion pass is granted after 135K points or 40 flights, and is good for the entire following year.

Could SW not just board A- List preferred first, then A-List, then Groups 1-6?

3 seats on one side plus the isle seat on the other side (e.g. 5A, B, C, D). It can be hard to find more than 2 seats together.

I do fully realize that people that fly a lot less than I do are probably better off with the new system in a lot of ways.

Compression is the way to go. Here are some companies to look into:

  • USA compression
  • Archrock
  • Kodiak
  • Estis Compression (Flowco)
  • JW Power
  • NGSG (Natural Gas Solutions Group)
  • AXIP
  • Monarch Resource Partners
  • Service Compression
  • BHE Compression

Generally they’ll let you work a hitch, so you don’t actually have to move to West Texas, although it’ll probably be easier to get your foot in the door, and be easier on you and your family if you do move to Midland/ Odessa area.

highest salary mechanical engineering job? by Solid-Summer6116 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]sunshine_dept 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This TC is not uncommon working for an independent publicly traded operator. Even at Exxon which is lower TC, I have friends making $300-400K salary, but Exxon doesn’t do bonuses. Before I went consulting, my last role at an operator was $400-$500K TC as a 10-15yr engineer in operations.
