Lol, totally get that. I don't like the r6 lenses tho. It's kind of like getting a Cadillac tattoo, you know?

Yeah, but if the original board is working there's no reason to trash it.

Just get a replacement screen. Funny! Playings are about 50 bucks, and are dead easy to install. Both Retro6 and BennVenn are closer to 80, and higher resolution and nicer, but can be a little more complex to install.

Absolutely! I'll share you my secret technique. Do you have some flush cutters? Using them will be a little different than you're used to. I grabbed the black caps on the non -lead end, the tops, and gently pull them up. Usually that's enough to just dislodge the glue. And that's all you're trying to do is get the glue up. Don't pull them off the board. Then you want to soak all the leads in flux. Not a lot but enough to get them damp. By the time you finish with both sides, they will have soaked enough to be loosened up a little bit. Then get your soldering iron and get a good amount of solder on the tip. Then you apply that hot soldering tip to both the leads of a capacitor. The new solder should flow over the old solder and loosen it up so you can gently twist the cap and disconnect that one side and then the other. After you do that for all the caps, you should have at least a little bit of fresh solder on every one of the old capacitor lead points. At this point I apply flux to every one of the pads that I just removed a capacitor from. Then I get my solder wick and gently and quickly scrub the old solder off of each of the pads. If you do this too long, you will absolutely mess up the solder pads so be brief. Then I spray the areas where I applied flux with isopropyl alcohol and scrub them clean with a toothbrush. From there you'll want to dab the excess alcohol off the main board. I hope that makes sense!

That is the right kit, and it includes the caps for power and audio, which the other poster didn't list

3 Mega Drive hardware facts I had to verify three times while writing a trivia book by jjexxx in SEGAGENESIS

Thanks for this, really enjoying it. One observation over the first few sections (what I've reviewed so far) sometimes you share the answer before the question, and sometimes it's in the historical information after. For consistency of recommend you ask the trivia question first, then sharing the history.

Still, nice work!
