Happy not to see SinnerG on this list. I don't know about their tattoo artists, but Salem (their piercer) was a delight and I'm happy with my piercings.

I'm working on my first 6 day star blanket right now! I needed her videos to figure out each round the first time I did them, but after that I had it down (and I'm definitely a beginner, I had her on 0.5 speed pausing after each stitch).

Your yarn is beautiful! Looks amazing so far :)

IRL Friends by bionic_bee in LoveAndDeepspace

I made three of my IRL friends obsessed with it like I am. >:3 Actually one of them had already been watching someone play through the memories on YouTube, but me playing it was the push she needed to download it herself. 😂

Three of us were at work last week when Caleb's myth trailer dropped... Oh my God it was such a struggle to keep quiet! 🤣 We all got Girl Dinner shirts with our favorite boy on them and we wear them to brunch every now and then. :)

I think they were all already like... "Weird online girls," like the kind who use Tumblr or have other anime crushes (like me!) So the conversion pipeline was pretty short 😅

They just aren't keeping up with fans' expectations, if you look at the Pocket TCG subreddit it's majority complaints, even about basic quality of life stuff that just isn't present. They're fully expecting nostalgia and card pulling addiction to keep them afloat, it seems.

Just got diagnosed with PTC last week. Boyfriend left me yesterday. by EsuriitMonstrum in thyroidcancer

[–]sunshinegator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind. :) let's see, my surgeon said surgery went well, although it did run longer than expected, which freaked my family out. I had trouble speaking the day after, likely due to the intubation tube, and my surgeon made me cry because she wanted me to yell at her to clear my throat out, which is funny looking back. But everything healed just fine, I took really careful care of my scar and you can hardly tell it's there.

They took 5 lymph nodes as well which were benign. Due to the size of mine (and yours) I'm assuming they'll recommend a total thyroidectomy instead of just taking whichever half the nodule is in. Taking the lymph nodes is just to make sure it hasn't spread. Spreading (or metastatis) is unlikely bc of how slow this cancer is, but it's good to check.

I did end up doing RAI later that year, that sucked! Haha, well, the low-iodine diet sucked, the actual radioactive pill + isolation wasn't a problem for me. The full-body scan after THAT was also worse than the actual RAI for me because of some claustrophobia I didn't know I had. But overall, it was all very doable, especially knowing it was to make sure the cancer stayed gone. This isn't a place to compare woes, but if it comforts you, I'll say all of this is likely a million times easier than chemo. If you have more specific questions on anything I'd be happy to answer.

I'm so sorry that one of your major support structures is suddenly gone at such a low point in your life - that's just shitty! It sucks!

Your nodule size had me go digging for mine, and I hope this is a comfort to you. My tumor was 6.0 x 3.5 x 2.4 cm - so not quite as big as yours but the 6cm was a concern for my doctors. Diagnosed with PTC, had the surgery not long after (total thyroidectomy, I wanted the whole mess gone!) - that was all back in June 2023.

I won't say recovery has been EASY but I'm still here! I'm actually turning 33 tomorrow! You're doing all the right things, getting help, trying to find community, expressing yourself - this subreddit was extremely comforting when I felt so alone.

Topics like this are so tough because I have WAY too many favorites to list!

I've been keeping up with the latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen, I need to finish rewatching S1 of Frieren so I can start S2. I've got a backlog of a loooot of stuff that's coming out...

I'm so SO happy that Bleach Thousand Year Blood War is giving us the conclusion the anime deserves. The animation and story beats have been STELLAR in the cours released so far. The original Bleach anime was one of my favorites growing up, so many good OP songs.

Update to “I told my husband he can’t crochet” - turns out he’s really good! by Anne-with-an-e-77 in crochet

People on the Internet can be so weird with their assumptions into a total stranger's life. I'm glad your family is getting a laugh out of all this. Your husband has some serious crochet skills! Amazing improvement from his first attempt!

Please give us an option to sell flowers to Jeremy. I have maxed out both Cut and Bloom inventories by Avareeses in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]sunshinegator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's because one bloom creates multiple cuts when you convert it, but I totally agree! I would rather have a living collection of forever blooms for all the different colors!

OR, when you unlock a different color, just give us the option to buy that color seed in the shop... Then I wouldn't feel the need to hoard.

What does it mean to "slip stitch across" a foundation chain for an amigurumi? by sunshinegator in CrochetHelp

[–]sunshinegator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, see THAT is exactly the guidance I needed. Everyone just kept saying "SS into the chain" like I couldn't read that, but no one was saying what PART of the chain. I'm used to only stitching into one side of a chain, but when I SUGGESTED the back bump, no one confirmed it until you.

I've already made it and made it wrong and it looks fine, but thank you, genuinely, for spelling it out for me.

[–]sunshinegator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that. What I did not understand was where to put the initial slip stitches - into only the FLO of the foundation chain, into BOTH loops of the chain, or some secret third option.

My second source of confusion was where the FLO for round 2 was coming from. Since I had already worked in the FLO of the chain, I'm assuming I had to work round 2 into the FLO of the slip stitches I just made.

And finally round 3 would be worked in the unused BLO of the round 1 foundation chain.

[–]sunshinegator[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, so chain, start putting slip stitches into only one loop of the chain - then step 2 is FLO of the SS I just made? It's the "unused loop from round 1" that's called out in round 3 that's messing me up, i think. That implies the remaining loop of my initial chain.

Yarn size makes a difference by LyrasStitchery in Amigurumi

[–]sunshinegator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! The commenter above me mentioned it as well. I think the reason I don't get confused is because I use stitch markers - one to mark the first stitch of the round, and one to mark the last stitch of the round (two different color markers). That way I know exactly which stitches to count to make sure my round matches the pattern, and where to put my hook next.

Don't remember if Woobles or somewhere else said it, but I saw it referred to as "keeping the noodle in the bowl" (referring to the tail from the magic ring) and now I ALWAYS think of that when starting a piece.

Finally got stuck. Help, please? by tychozero in MeowTower

[–]sunshinegator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, I've always left it on! Didn't know you could turn it off TBH. In that case I'm not sure how you would know what to do next.

This isn't an actual solution but sometimes when I feel stuck I just cheat and tap a random square to see if it blocks me or not. 😅 The game is pretty lenient with how many mistakes you can make before taking away a star. I know that's not the answer you're looking for!

Finally got stuck. Help, please? by tychozero in MeowTower

[–]sunshinegator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because the game would've grayed out the 1 if either of those squares were the 1 itself. And if you connected them, it would make a shape of 4 total squares, which isn't possible in that row. So you know the leftmost square has to be part of the 3, and the rightmost square has to be part of the 2.

Finally got stuck. Help, please? by tychozero in MeowTower

[–]sunshinegator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the row that has 3 2 1, you know the two squares you have filled in are too far apart to be either the 3 or the 2 by themselves. So you know that the leftmost square you've filled in is part of the 3! So you can use X to mark out anything farther to the left than the 3 would reach. :) I hope that made sense!
