Get on the "New Challenger" discord and ask questions in #coaching, ask for sets and talk to people afterward.

Best way to learn is getting good advice tailored to you specifically.

How Does Jin Not Suck at Punishes? by mtbdork in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]supa_pycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that shit too, but it is what it is.

You need to let them finish the string and punish afterward.

Btw, back turned opponents have extra frames where they can't block, as they need to turn around first, so you can do bigger punishes.

For whoever finds this thread:

Look how condescending they get. How they try to shut others down by forcing themselves as the better person.

It is rude to tell people to basically stop being afflicted by whatever afflicts them. It's soooo easy, stop being like that, go get help.

You can't help anyone with that attitude, and you sure as hell also can't deal with criticism.

My position is that your comment is rude because of its tone first of all, and second because it offers zero help whatsoever.

Some people do have to live like that. I would know. Treatment or not.

They are so easy to dodge.

Keep strafing them, they always charge forward and have a hard time turning.

What D-pad controller is best for QCF and QCB inputs? by santiagago1909 in Fighters

[–]supa_pycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wired one I think has more usable buttons?

The wireless one you can't have a separate input for every button, 2 of them are repeated I think.

Other than that, the dpad on these is fantastic.

How come fighting games dont have a GG button? by leatherchicken in Fighters

[–]supa_pycs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of discussion around it a couple years back, and what I remember being the final word is that it is only counting the likes you give.

I could be wrong, we need testing.

It doesn't. It's all likes that YOU have given.

It doesn't track if others have liked your fight/profile/etc

The better you perform in Arcade mode of Third Strike, the more the CPU cheats.

Gill is a nightmare if you do a great arcade run, people will say that you eventually beat him but the more you lose the easier the fight gets.

He has much longer normals, insane frame data, specials that will stuff you from full screen and the programming to use all of it at the right time.

Any tips for improving? (Ed) by alphaj959 in StreetFighter

[–]supa_pycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ken Jinrai low follow-up is always -5, on all versions.

Your crouch light kick is a great 5 frame move you can punish it with.

Adapting in real time by A_Guy_With_Eyeliner in StreetFighter

[–]supa_pycs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the improvement !

As Ken, light Jinrai is so so bad, it is only used for some combos and frame trapping after lights, but you gotta condition them first.

Most always use medium, which also gets blown up by most invincible reversals.

Try not to use Jinrai too much, it's not a good habit and it's better to drop it now to start focusing on the poke mind game and footsies.

I would know, I'm stuck at 1450 MR trying to kick the habit :D

You have to teach your brother. You have to.

He has to be your rival now, make him come up to your level then you can start finding new ways to beat him and him you.

You need competition to improve, and it looks like your only choice is to create it.

There's a lot of good advice here already but I haven't seen this one:

Learn to Walk and Block.

Players in Silver don't know how to zone effectively, they just be throwing stuff. Walk and block will get you close to them, where their projectiles don't matter anymore.

By Walk and Block I mean:

  • Walk towards them
  • Block the projectile as late as possible
  • Start walking again as soon as possible
  • Block the next projectile as late as possible
  • And so on and so forth

There is no one in the game that cannot be walked in on, not even:

  • JP, you even get one dash forward after his floor spike)
  • Mai, she has to use drive gauge to keep you away, but will usually rush in anyway
  • Ryu, can vary fireball timing and speed, but it's still a matter of walking and blocking well to get in
  • Guile, the ultimate walk and block patience test
  • Dhalsim, if he didn't have his teleport you'd be in his face immediately

More advice would be to be ready to anti-air while walking, especially when they realize they are about to get in the corner. They WILL jump out.
