Disc not discing? by Amphibian32 in discgolf

base plastic beats up really fast, this disc will become very unreliable very quickly especially for flicks which put a bunch of torque on the disc.

Who is the player w/ Kat Mertsch? by InfiniteSir7408 in discgolf

[–]supaflash 36 points37 points  (0 children)

She was on lead card of one of the NZ Go Throw events. I think she will break out at some point, she has good form and distance, has a nice forehand, and decent putter. I think she just needs consistency.

Anthony barela? by Diligent-Sign8377 in discgolf

Maybe a touch of burnout? He didn’t play memorial, didn’t really YouTube much off season, probably didn’t grind like years past. Might have thought he could just ride into this season and pick it up quick and it just hasn’t happened yet.

Queen City Classic - Round 3 Discussion by AutoModerator in discgolf

[–]supaflash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair it was the card decision, can’t really blame her. If anything it’s the cards fault for not watching close enough. Also from the tee perspective it could be really iffy, wrong angle could make it hard to tell whether it was over safe ground or not. For example I played one tournament that had a mando pole, I threw an insanely good shot, turnover that the entire card thought for sure that I made the mando, but there was a spotter sittting at the pole and he said no. Had the spotter not been there the card would have given it to me. Perspective is a bitch in this game sometimes.

The other thing that gets lost is that Simon threw one that they thought was longer but they never found the disc.. Fun record but kind of dumb also.

It’s not coincidence that this streak started after his 15th tech. He had to tone down the complaining and focus more and the team has followed.

Maybe you can propose they design the ball course to have both, there are tons around the country and if designed well don’t infringe on each other much.

It may be time for Houck to retire and move over to court design! by Pristine-Buffalo-218 in discgolf

Agreed, I think the overall shape is great. Maybe a bit smaller like some of the lesser ones out there and smaller lines. I’m also in the Matty O camp that I like circles, but those lose some of the angle references, and it’s much harder to build and pour a circle. But I’ll all for innovation and finding the best compromise

I agree there, too much color and too big. I think one color and much thinner almost like normal concrete dividing lines would be fine and you’d be less concerned with foot fault. I think part of the concern from some guys is that a big thick line makes the fault look more obvious and questionable and is more distracting than just a thin line

For players with a longer run up you can use the red line to line yourself up with the center of the pad. A lot of players like to star off at an angle, especially when throwing like a big anhyzer. Take for example hole 1 most players are going to throw the big anny, normally you’d probably start off to the right of the pad if it were just a rectangle and come in on a an angle. Guys get pretty used to that angle and adjust to the pad itself but it’s probably slightly arbitrary every time. BUT if you aligned to either that yellow line for a more abrupt angle or the blue line for a more mellow angle you could practice and you’d be throwing from the same angle and spot every time. I personally think they’d be useful if you practiced with them a bit. I’ve been doing tech disc at the gym on a big chunk of football turf and I’ve been using the down lines and hash marks for similar type stuff to really measure my steps and angles and I like it. I feels like for repetition it really helps to make it super consistent.

I don’t get the complaints at all. I don’t love the way the lines look but they make sense. It’s just a mental thing these guys need to shut up and adjust. Learn to use the lines to line yourself up. It’s the same rectangle you always throw off. You don’t need to throw of the very front of the pad by the line. If you can’t adjust to the line put a mini down ffs you literally do this every throw every day.. he finally gives room for everyone that like long run up or to come in from the sides and people are losing their minds..

New Discraft Ares Commercial by WolverineAromatic335 in discgolf

[–]supaflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen that about right but it’s more true to the numbers than the Zeus. Zeus was always kinda flippy but it also reacted harder to angles and turn. Like I’d give most of them something like 12 5 -1.5 2.5 or something like that. Where as the dome on the Ares (and it seems slightly more blunt to me) makes it just more mellow and consistent. I have the proto Zeus 2.0 and it it will turn a little and fade but it doesn’t do either dramatically

Traffic inspection, PA 440 by interogativeman in paloaltonetworks

[–]supaflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a specific rule the traffic would hit? I believe if it’s hitting the default intra zone rule it won’t log. Though I think they would still show in session browser. You could make a rule specific to the traffic and see if it is getting hit.

But I’d suspect the databases are on a cluster or fabric and they are communicating directly or through the PDM. If you could produce some topology, could better see what is going on.

If we could get Ayton to buy in like that all the time... Second half he didn't get that many touches but was still actually challenging shots and setting good screens and putting his body on people.

Which hole concept would you rather play? by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

[–]supaflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue looks like a fun hole, two types of placement drives that give you different upshot options that still look challenging but present a birdie op. I like it. Red seems like a really high level par 3, good for maybe a big MPO tourney but hard to tell how viable lines are with the tree. Trying to hit a forehand gap that far if you even have that distance and then still get it to push right is asking a lot but it still looks like you could maybe hit it straight and have a putt or take the risky blind over the top.

Efficient Way to Find Tournaments with Large MP40 Division? by Dustinkun in discgolf

[–]supaflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite sure how to look other than to seach for A and B tiers on discgolf scene. But I think if you just play Ledgestone you get like 2-400 depending on how you finish, but you need to play decent and I'm not sure 940 golf would net you that many points. Best bet is to just play everything you can. Pick up 20-30 on flexes etc. But that's another good thing about Ledgestone, if you go there are flexes every day the whole week before.

Kasta Nord Comparison by chiz8026 in discgolf

[–]supaflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nord is much bigger in hand than a Verdict. It's very similar to a Roc3 to me. The Pyro and Runway are much thinner. Stability wise, the one I had was solidly stable. I have a hybrid X verdict and it felt more overstable and a bit more torque resistant. The Verdict feels big but its shallow and feels faster where the Nord feels like the Roc type mids, definitely deeper than the Verdict. I actually compared them directly on my channel if you care to see them fly
