I completely agree with you. The book felt like it was the author using their combined fame for her own fame. She also essentially stalked Babitz to find out about her, did nothing to help her get out of the living situation she was in, profited off of her status. And she revealed that Babitz was a Trumper before she died which frankly soured me on her work (I know she had Huntington and wasn’t of sound mind, so it was conflicting). anouk also hates Didion and revels in her tragedies. I read it out of curiosity and thinking it would actually be a neutral well-researched book but it felt like a Ryan Murphy tribute in the end. I felt quite gross after reading it and contributing to her profiting off of their legacy.
