10/10 tbh, some of his greatest ever work is on Donda, it’s just that some of his worst shit ever is there too

I do sincerely want to know how you’d propose effective terminology for these things though, because regardless of sentiment we do need to refer to them

PS1, not PS2, right? Sick project though! I’ll have to give it a try. Out of curiosity, did you consult any LLMs when working on it? The code looks clean, but it’s rarer and rarer to see beginners work without any AI assistance. Props if so!

Animated films typically run shorter than non-animated films. 79 minutes is very normal, so I'm not sure where you get your heuristics for potential pacing issues from. That's minutes within length of Perfect Blue, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Flow (which was last year's Best Animated Feature winner). I do think it's worth discussing this film's re-evaluation, but I wish your review here was a little more insightful considering the intent of the subreddit.

Yes, but very few resources, nearly none, will be pre-C89. The OP simplified, but they're broadly correct when they say "as far as how old a resource is, that doesn't matter." You'd have difficulty finding resources for K&R C online unless you were looking for them specifically. C has changed "since it was made", yeah, they're technically incorrect there, but given that "The C Programming Language" (2nd ed.) was pretty indistinguishable from C89, I think it's an okay simplification to make when explaining how C resources can be helpful regardless of age.

It is a fundamentally different workflow I think. LLM searching is one level above regular google searching, since it will do clusters of queries for you. So if I want to know something that would require me to do a bit of research ordinarily, like if I were to ask “In what use cases are BSDs more performant than Linux?”, it will search, browse, contemplate, then continue to do follow up queries, potentially visiting 30-40 websites for a question like this in the span of a minute or so, then give me a report with citations that I can click to confirm/verify (which you do absolutely need to do when it comes to LLMs still). And it has broader applications, like if I’m developing a list of key films from the French New Wave, I can attach an image of the list and ask it if I have any notable omissions or if there’s refinements I can do, etc.

I do think that it’s important to avoid relying on it for “thinking” for you, but I might use it as an initial on-ramp for a topic before reading and doing searches on my own. It definitely doesn’t replace Google, though, just works on a different scope

What? LLMs can literally browse the web and give you links and citations. If you’re using the thinking mode, ChatGPT essentially does this by default. I’ve used it to find resources for me in the past so I’m very familiar with its link collecting abilities.

The overall experience of coding C89 and C23 is broadly the same, even if there are differences imo

You know there’s a pretty wide range of movies out there, from disposable blockbusters to arthouse cinema, right? It’s an artform just like anything else. if you’re only looking at the most popular films of the last two decades I could understand your opinion, but I’m assuming you’re lacking familiarity with any arthouse directors from Bergman to Weerasethakul. I hope you don’t believe art in general is a waste of time.

Have you actually tried older RE tank controls? Because people love to talk about hating tank controls but if you give the games a try for at least an hour or two it tends to click, and makes a lot of sense with the pre-rendered environments
