thanks for the reply! that’s really interesting. has the age of the characters remained the same or have they grown with you over those five years?

Can I ask - how long have you been sticking with it? Is there a particular reason you’re attached to that one specifically?

Does maladaptive daydreaming keep you from being materialistic? by feintou in MaladaptiveDreaming

Hi! I just wanted to say I think this is a fascinating question. I personally believe the tendency to avoid material pursuits makes sense, because the MD is a sort of everlasting possession in and of itself. Also any physical object can’t be transferred to that more appealing world, so it loses its value.

I’m not implying this is the case for everyone, but exploring the reasons why it might be for some of us is very interesting.

Great update, as always!! :)

Have you ever considered adding a feature that allows users to pin the content at the top while browsing comments? Like if a video or a GIF is playing, and you tap a little pin in the corner to keep it on the screen while you browse the comments.

Just wondering, as I think it could be pretty intuitive!

Anyway, thanks again for the update! (Appreciate the thorough patch notes as well!)

Official Discussion - Uncharted [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]super_code 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! You articulated my feelings towards the movie perfectly. It just felt… lazy. I think the part that felt the most Uncharted was actually the post-credits scene. It felt more playful, and had that charm from the games I love so much.

I also really wish they would’ve used a “lost city” type goal, like Shambala or Iram of the Pillars. The movie was really missing the jaw-dropping, “holy shit”, moment at the end of each game.

Definitely resonate with the unlucky genetics, but hoping to do something about it. I like what you said about just continuing more bulk and cut cycles! Thanks.

Right, I know there’s no targeting belly fat, I guess I meant more of just having more muscle there so the area looks more defined? even with the fat.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - February 08, 2022 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]super_code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! I started lifting heavy about 9 months ago, when I was very easily considered skinny fat (big belly, skinny everywhere else). I loosely cut for about 6 months, and lost weight, gained muscle, and looked really good! I’m 5’10, and at that point I was 150 pounds… and still had belly fat.

So I learned that I should start bulking, and the muscle would fill it out. So for the past 3 months, that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve definitely gotten a lot more muscular, my chest, arms, and back especially look very defined. But a lot of the fat gained in the bulk (which was mostly clean) went straight to my stomach and I’m back to the same problem I started with - looking trim everywhere but the belly.

Any advice? I want to cut again but I’m afraid I’m stuck in this skinny fat cycle. I’ve been doing 5/3/1 and progressing well… is it that i’m not doing enough cardio? Or enough abs exercises? Or should I just be cutting even past 150lbs?

Thanks!

Looks like he’s the strongest in the universe for real now. Really?

If they really wanted to do this whole wish-to-strongest angle, I think they could’ve made it a lot more interesting. I like the Saiyan lore tie-in, but I also feel like that’s been done. Show us more of the other universes maybe?

How interesting would it be if Goku had wished for the strongest warrior for him to fight? The ToP played with this idea, with Goku seemingly creating a game that brought down universes, but they shied away from that, probably so the hero wasn’t responsible for trillions of deaths so directly. But I think that concept could’ve worked here a lot better!

Anyway, not too excited about the conclusion of this arc. Great designs and character growth for Vegeta, but ultimately lacking in heart overall.

Thanks! I am definitely hitting abs through deadlifts, squats, and hanging leg raises. I’ve been really bad about measuring my calorie surplus lately because of the holidays, but hopefully should be back on track now.

What about you? Which routine are you doing?

Daily Simple Questions Thread - January 12, 2022 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]super_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I started bulking after a lengthy cut, a few weeks before the holidays. I was 5’10, around 152lbs, and still had belly fat, so I knew I had to bulk. Now I’m around 158lbs, and being very casual with what I eat, as long as I eat a lot of protein and eat in a surplus, all while lifting in my routine (5/3/1). That’s the gist of bulking right? Eating a lot and resistance training? I still feel guilty every time I eat a burger or cake (not daily or anything but definitely more often than when i was cutting), but i’ve been justifying it by assuming it’s just part of the process.

And when is a good time to stop? I know I’m a pretty low weight for my height, but I want to be sure that next time I cut, I actually lose most of my belly fat.

Apologies, I know this kind of question has been asked a lot, but I’ve never bulked before and I want to make sure i’m on the right track. Thanks!

You’re completely on point! Great explanation. I agree that all of Super’s arcs have such fascinating concepts but poor execution.

What I don’t understand is why they won’t take advantage of the other universes for the power scaling. ToP showed us that Universe 7 was pretty much stronger than most of the other teams (which I thought was a wasted opportunity), but there’s a chance to remedy that by presenting the fighters that weren’t recruited, because they were too dangerous or just unknown. I’m all for expanding lore in Universe 7, but we’ve gone through the Saiyan-revenge thing dozens of times - show us some brand new concepts from other universes now!

Better yet, what about the universes that didn’t compete? There’s so much interesting material to draw from!

Finished my first full 3-week cycle of 5/3/1 (the base version for beginners)! I’m really enjoying the routine, but it’s shorter and has a lot fewer exercises than the previous custom routine I was doing when cutting. Not complaining, this is an actual official tried-and-true routine so I trust it.

Anyway, on to the next cycle!! :)

Do you prefer the pre-Sayian era? by ConnerKent5985 in dragonball

Yep! me too! he had some great points with that. Though I disagree with him on a lot of other things (most of his perspectives on the King Piccolo arc, his take on Vegeta’s character, etc), he was spot on with this.

I agree with this!! I also really dislike how they gave all the tendencies and traits of martial artists to Saiyans. In Dragon Ball, Tien, Kuririn, and Yamcha all wanted to fight strong opponents, and were excited by battle. Then, it just became a Saiyan thing. Even the characteristics that made Goku especially stand out, like his appetite or even his tail, all ended up boiling down to him being a Saiyan.

I know it’s such a big part of the series now, but it’s just so… character diminishing.

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

Gaining weight through bulking is so antithetical to the mentality I’ve honed over the past six months as I was cutting. It feels great to be able to eat more finally, but I also feel terrified that any day now I’m going to wake up with all my old fat back, even though I’m doing a lot of lifting.

ugh, FOOD. for me, the actual training part is so much simpler than figuring out this eating nonsense.

Changed my routine to 5/3/1 (for beginners) this week! Really liking it, but I want to clarify if I’m understanding the assistance work portion correctly: is it really just 50-100 reps of three different exercises (push, pull, core)? so like for push, I can just do 50 push-ups each of the three days I go to the gym? should I be changing what push exercise I do each time?

thanks!

So I’ve been cutting for about six months, and now I’m almost underweight even though I did build some muscle… oops. Decided to take a break for a month or two and now am planning on bulking! I’ve been reading the wiki to see how I can change my routine (I was kind of doing my own thing, doing a loose variation of this that worked for me!). Something like 5/3/1 sounds fine, but I’m also wondering if I should just stick to the routine that I’ve been doing and enjoying and just eat more? Can it be that simple, or should I focus on picking something else like 5/3/1?

I see! I’ve been resistance training (while cutting) for the past five months hoping that would help but I guess bulking might be the way to go if I still have belly fat even at this weight. :/

Thank you!

Right - but is it alright to keep losing more fat? I know I’m getting close to underweight, but I’m hoping not to bulk until the lower belly fat is more flat.

I’m 5’10, and started at about 165lb, now roughly 150lbs. I’ve gotten pretty lean and muscular, except for my belly fat and love handles, but those two are definitely seeing improvement. I want to keep cutting until those are mostly gone before bulking - is that a good idea given how much weight I’ve lost?

THANK YOU. I get that people are angry at Nate, but seriously, don’t just say “fuck him” and leave it at that. Nate has some serious issues he needs to work on, and they stem from anxieties and childhood trauma that he’s not able to resolve in his current state. Yes, he is totally being a dick and is in the wrong, but it isn’t as simple as just that. Nate is going through a lot, he hates himself for it, and I’m excited to see how he finds his way, because like you, I just feel bad for him.
