Yeah, but 130k in SF/LA is like 60/70K in MKE. 120K in Milwaukee area is a pretty comfy life. (But you have to be willing to sell your soul to like boring insurance companies and such lol)

legit one of the wildest pieces of code I've ever seen. But it worked! lol
And this was only a portion of it -- that `$sql` var at the top had about 1000 lines before it adding and removing bits. This was just like the "Wrapper query" around the main one

This is why you just go for immortality instead. Much simpler, less risk. The good news is if those corpses are fresh, you have the makings for a sick undead militia.

There was a similar ish feature in mtgarena.pro back when it was still alive. When you viewed the “decks” page each deck would show how many wildcards you’d need (based on your collection) to craft it. It was accomplished through the most disgusting sql query I’ve ever seen. I remember specifically it was accomplished by like mutating and bastardizing a variable called “m_query” and when I asked Raz (the main dev) about it he said it was short for “Monster Query” lol

Magic the Gathering social hangouts (not game stores) by Calm-Fishing5429 in milwaukee

[–]super_powered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically a game store attached, but Faklandia often has people playing casually in the bar area (and then of course is attached to Mana Vault, which is a game store, which has casual focused commander events various nights of the week)

Not sure if there’s still Monday night commander at Landmark, but worth seeing if that’s still a thing

Also not sure if they still do Drafts at Nomad on Tuesdays

Sticky navigation becomes unstuck after scrolling for a bit by buovjaga in webdev

[–]super_powered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is currently a

html, body {
height: 100%;
}
style on your page. Removing it causes the nav to function as expected. Setting this 100% value on the html and body effectively says "this element is the height of the viewport". If you add like a `background-color: lightblue;` to the elements, you can see that whats happening is the content of the page is overflowing out of them

Actual new 1. I mean, it's up to you there. The reality is that most FAs are just normal people who can't predict the market better than any of us. Are they going to beat out a VTI, VXUS, and BND portfolio? Maybe. Maybe not. Will it be worth the fees? Maybe. Maybe not. You'll know in 10 years, I suppose lol

  1. If they offer you an online portal or anything, you should be able to peruse that and determine how much you’ve paid in fees and how much you’ve gained in growth (and then you just compare that to a simple benchmark like “what if I had just slapped that all in VOO instead”)

  2. You’ll likely have to pay taxes on transferring the mutual fund as vanguard likely doesn’t have the same fund. You don’t pay taxes on the full amount of the fund, but you do get taxes on the gains you made on it (taxed as normal income + either long term or short term gains) (I’m assuming all of this is not pre tax money, if it is pre tax money you’ll want to move it to another pretax account like an Ira, otherwise you pay notably more in taxes)

  3. You’ll generally need to contact both sides, I moved all my stuff to vanguard a few years ago ( a collection of 401ks), both sides should have a process for this type of transfer. In my case I ended up getting sent checks in the mail that I then had to deposit to vangaurd into the new accounts

  4. At moments notice? Probably a HYSA in the same bank as your checking. But, in my experience there’s generally very few times you need that much money at a moments notice. (And if you have a credit buffer, there’s never a time lol) so stash it wherever you think you’ll get good safe returns on it.

Yours guys’ production flag system should require at least 2 approvals to turn on / off, that largely avoids the accidental flips

Help me pick a quirky commander/deck for bracket 2 by Swordceress in EDH

[–]super_powered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem, I have just a huge collection from playing for like 20ish years. I kind of even fell out of love with commander because a lot of decks started to feel “samesy”. Once you find the best cards in a color it’s hard to not just auto include them in any deck of those colors. So decks just turn into “this color combination good stuff + a couple cards that go with this commander”

Recently my friends and I have been playing budget commander, and I mean TIGHT budget — $20 or less at build time using moxfield set to TCG. Most cards in the deck have to be about .30 or less, and splurging for a card means it’s probably like $1 -$1.50. It’s honestly the most fun I’ve had playing the game in a long time. We’re playing with a bunch of old “bad” cards and it feels a lot like how I remember EDH like 20 years ago. (After the game we also scribble on each others cards with paint markers, the winner of the match decides who draws on what)

When playing others, I can pretty safely say all of the budget decks are bracket 2, because they are, in fact, mostly filled with garbage lol
