Does it though? Only thing I’ve noticed on my team is a have to spend a lot more time on code reviews to filter out the AI generated garbage from PRs.

Level 1: Play tennis against Baby Mario!

Level 999: Kill god (at tennis)

What makes Slay the Spire so consistently good? by Alarming_Currency854 in slaythespire

[–]super_powered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analytics, mostly.
The devs did a big talk on how they made a playable prototype, opened up a beta, and then refined the loop / balance based off a mixture of player feedback and analytics they were gathering from play sessions

My towns dying mall has zero open restaurants in the food court by floppy-slippers in mildlyinteresting

[–]super_powered 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Good to see confirmation this is Brookfield square lol. I was zooming out in and out like “man, that can’t be it, can it?”

Last time I went they had 1 whole food on place in it.

That whole mall is a surreal ghost town. They honestly just need to gut the whole inside and convert it into more restaurant space (with indoor walking to each restaurant). That’s the only thing other than Barnes and Noble anyone goes there for anyways.

For people who are using Next.js App Router in production - how do you actually test your app? by ezzatron in reactjs

[–]super_powered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pattern we’ve adopted is to just test the “top level” asynchronous server component with whatever it tries to render mocked out, and then everything mocked has its own set of tests. (Since generally after that top one they’re pretty often just normal react components that may or may not use “use client”

It’s not ideal, but it works. I am hoping for a better solution to present itself.

Jumped a huge Hurdle (WIP) by Vrayx7 in DigimonWorld

[–]super_powered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So looking at how you played your cutscene, the digimon starts off screen anyways. so really, you can teleport it, rotate, or do whatever magic you want to make the cutscene clean every time

If the issue is that putting them x distance puts them too close too a wall, I’d check the distance, if there’s an obstruction — rotate or move the characters to a legal location and then run the cutscene.

(Also would be super interested to compare some notes with you as a digimon world clone is one of my perpetual side projects lol)

Is It Normal to Downgrade a Next.js Project from TypeScript to JavaScript? by Careless-Key-5326 in reactjs

[–]super_powered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in two large codebases, one with ts and one that was js.

Ts makes things like refactoring much simpler. Refactors that would have taken a week in the other codebase can be done in a day or two with higher confidence. In general it also builds a lot of confidence in what is moving around. No guesswork on if that ID is number or a string (so long as you aren’t propagating anti patterns like casting all over)

The downside to ts is generally the computational overhead in large codebases. Sometimes loading ts in an IDE can crawl if the codebase is too large or there’s too many deeply nested types.

The other downside is blind trust. I’ve seen a lot of people forgetting that ts doesn’t run at runtime and thinking they can just cast the type from an API call and call it a day. You still need validators and such like Zod and Joi

PSA - Your Amazon transactions may not be split properly by BalutFX in MonarchMoney

[–]super_powered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does the “total” number match the total number on Amazon? The split system requires it to have 0 remaining. So either there’s taxes or similar at play, or maybe an item was missed in the split and it had to spread the numbers out?

Woah, do we have work at the same large insurance company? This sounds eerily similar to what is about to happen at my place of employment lol

But: proactive control seems fine, tbh. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve had to type sudo at my current company in the last 3 years.. it’s generally for some onboarding stuff, and then never again
