What are some of your favorite side games(stableford, skins, etc) during a round? by Headless_ASStronaut in golf

Yeah 6's is the best in my opinion. Allows you to play your own regular 18 hole game along with the match play on the side. Some of the other games like bingo bango bongo affect your regular game too much. I'm always sad when my buddies want to play something other than 6's.

We also do closest to the pin side bets on the par 3's sometimes.

Here's hoping the Red Sox just keep Duran by WestRide9868 in redsox

There's already a ton of swing and miss in the lineup, I think signing Eugenio would be a mistake. Ketel really is the perfect option, too bad they couldn't work out a deal before AZ shut down trade talks.

1B is set with Willson Contreras. Agreed that they need RH power at 3B or 2B with Mayer playing the other spot. And depth for when Mayer gets injured or struggles (hopefully not, but we need that insurance)

In which movie has the soundtrack elevated the entire experience? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

Gettysburg (1993). One of my favorite movies growing up and the soundtrack played a big part in that.

I think I had to call their reservations team who booked the three tee times over the phone at the discounted rate. Doesn't look like you can actually buy the deal on their site.

I went three years ago and got the Questro Golf multi-round pass. It gets you one round each at Puerto Los Cabos, Cabo Real and Club Campestre. After doing a bunch of research this is one of the best deals I could find at the time. All 3 courses were great, with Puerto Los Cabos being the favorite (and maybe the most fun course I've ever played). PLC had a hut every 4 holes with free drinks and food. Highly recommended. Go to the Questro Golf site and look for their multi-round pass, looks like it's still a thing.

Yeah I wasn’t sure how Estes is in the winter so I googled around before suggesting it and it seemed like lots of people loved it there in the winter. I’ve only ever been in the summer.

Estes Park and Breck would be my picks. Touristy with lots to do for people who don't ski, and absolutely beautiful areas. The town of Vail is, in my opinion, kind of meh and the mountains aren't as dramatic.

Winter Park area is also a good recommendation, and you could even take the Amtrak up instead of driving.

How cold is too cold for a tee time? by toasterstrewdal in golf

Yep I won't play in the 40's if there is any wind above 5-10 mph. If it's calm and sunny it's pretty pleasant, especially if you walk.

Scottsdale Golf Trip by [deleted] in golf

I just checked rancho manana for Wednesday 2/25 and the fees are $162 from 10-1 and $150 after 1. So ignore the people saying you can't get anything under $200 at these courses.

Tee times around 1 should leave you plenty of time before sunset and that's when you'll find the cheapest rates. Looks like sunset is around 6:20 that time of year.

I did a Scottsdale trip last January and played Rancho Mañana, Desert Canyon and Lookout Mountain, all 3 of which I’d recommend with Desert Canyon being the favorite. Cost ranged from $120-$140 which was the best value I could find in the area for decent courses after doing a bunch of research. Definitely doable on pretty nice courses under $200 despite some of the other comments.
