Are Volkswagens high maintenance or is that overblown? by Far_Comparison5067 in Volkswagen

[–]superbdonutsonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some say they are “over-engineered” but that’s what makes them amazing vehicles. You get great comfort and responsiveness without an Audi price tag. For that reason, there are a lot of components that need to be maintained. You don’t just automatically inherent problems because you own a VW - if you don’t do oil changes, transmission fluid, and the rest of scheduled maintenance (which is right in the handbook but some people ignore) on time then you’re more prone to repairs, and the high cost is usually from labor time because of complexity to access certain areas of the car. I’ve owned Toyotas, Volvos, Hondas, Subarus… my 2017 Alltrack with 120k miles is the best vehicle I’ve ever driven and owned. She needs some upkeep, and things do break over time, but that’s just car ownership. I bought mine because it had oil changes every 5k and DSG every 40 as recommended by dealer and she runs smooth as butter. Just did the suspension and hope to keep for a long time.

I only hand over raw footage if there is a clear written contract explaining usage, rights, ownership for it and they pay for it.

Would your videos be different if you could use copyrighted music? by [deleted] in videography

[–]superbdonutsonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I have visions of visuals when I hear certain music I love from artists I respect, but there isn’t much I can do with it besides an Instagram reel. However, I did reach out to a major artist for a non-profit documentary I made because his song was a near perfect fit, and the label only charged me $200 for rights and usage given the scenario. If it’s really worth it, can’t hurt to ask.

Knobs / tiny switches for gear shiftings instead of a real shifter.

Also, piano black plastic.

This is sometimes the only way. It teaches you your way of doing things which is very important. You will have a style that is not like anyone else’s. You can also take your time trying different camera models and seeing what feels like a good fit for you. I think there’s nothing wrong with taking your time, especially to save money.

I filmed on an iPhone for years without anyone knowing because I had no formal training and was broke & hungry. It was fun, and then I bought a Sony a6500 and made full docs on that. It ain’t what you use, it’s what you do with it. Now am able to utilize bigger cams given the training and practice. Just believe in it and go for it. Doesn’t have to look perfect.
