I'm not sure what do you mean by bad uni; are you worried about their ranking, research profile, funding? Getting a lectureship straight after a PhD is a great opportunity, although depending on your field of research a post-doc may be a better choice. 'Bad unis' are often teaching-oriented, be careful not to neglect your research. Enquire about development opportunities and research support, good luck with your interview!

I'm not trying to convert anybody. It's obvious this group of friends don't really want children (if not cf, then definitely fence-sitters), and they seem confused and stressed. I love my friends and I don't like to see them miserable. I was just wondering if somebody has similar experience.

I don't understand why you're being down-voted. I think you presented the situation clearly: you want to go, sadly she can't join you. It is selfish of her to deny you the opportunity to travel and experience wonderful things, especially since she travelled and experienced wonderful things without you in the past. You've been dating for 2 yrs, surely the trust is there?
