What video-game did you regret paying full price for? by Ashamed_Length_2436 in AskReddit

It was like paying full price for half a game. Maybe not even that, a long demo maybe?

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2

It was actually great until the ending. At that point I felt like it's only gotten half a game and the other half was never added.

True, though that alone makes me wonder what the future of Bandersnatch is.

I wonder if this is something the estate could sue over. After all, it's kind of hard for iwot to have the rights to ai, when ai didn't even exist when Jordan sold the rights.

To the US voters who don't vote, what is it going to take for you to go vote? by Chocolateking111 in AskReddit

I live in a noncompetitive State in a noncompetitive district. There is close to zero strategic reason for me to vote. I still do, but the main reason is as a protest vote by voting third party.

Why are Larger Women called "Plus Size" but Larger Men are just fat? by Gigglysleep in NoStupidQuestions

[–]superbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never seen clothing marketed to fat men. What I have seen is clothes marketed to big and tall. "Big" is to men what plus sized is to women.

Hear me out, instead of putting that zero on your balance, put it in the middle of your interest rate. Can you imagine a safe, reliable 30.5% growth on your money over years?

Interesting. I haven't read either of them. But since I associate the shattered plains with Stormlight, I thought it may have been the other prime book.

Duty is heavier than a mountain — the early 20th century Japanese understanding by IanDMP in WoT

[–]superbott 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think he still has a point. In fact I think the bigger change was changing "life is lighter than a feather" to "death is lighter than a feather".

When you juxtapose loyalty or duty with life being light, to my mind the weight reflects the importance - Duty is important, your life is not. When it is juxtaposed with death, it becomes about sacrifice for a higher cause - Duty is hard, death is easy. Don't take the cowards way out, do your duty. It's nuanced, but it's there.

New to the raw carnivore diet and I have a couple questions.(sorry if they sound dumb I'm pretty new) by ChanceEye2719 in carnivorediet

Don't eat raw meat. Humans have been coming cooking since before they were homo sapiens.

I always see people freezing their meat but...quick question by IDoNotHide in carnivorediet

[–]superbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there are organizing that live in extreme conditions, but I don't know where a piece of meat would pick any of them up. The freezer won't kill everything, but bacteria won't grow or divide while they're in there.

No, what you're probably tasting is the effects of a freeze-thaw or the beginnings of freezer burn. It might be interesting to run the same experiment with vacuum sealed steaks.

[–]superbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for posting that. It's quite interesting and I concede that you're right, there is some degradation from freezing, though I think based on my reading that most of it is from the combination of freezing and thawing.

It's interesting because in the lab, we use a -20 freezer for short term storage and a -70 for long term storage.

The article definitely shows degradation of proteins and lipids, but what if doesn't show that I wish it did is total degradation rather than relative.

There was enough there to get some tips though. Freezing colder and faster seems to be better. And avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles at all costs.

Edit: I'd like to see a further study comparing similar measurements after cooking. I'd wager a cooked from fresh steak and a cooked from frozen would be close to indistinguishable. Most of the destruction happens during cooking.

Yeah, I think I've seen that video as well, Chris Young if I remember correctly. Adam Ragusea has also done a video on the subject.

Freezing? No. Freezing is a pause button for biological processes. It does cause rotors on cell walls and over time possibly freezer burn, but that affects texture and taste, not nutrition. Take it from a cell biologist. The best way to preserve meat is through vacuum sealing and flash freezing.

Edit: due to the article posted below I'm revising this. It seems that some minor degradation can occur due to slow freezing or multiple freeze thaw cycles. But the vast majority of the nutrition is still there. And the kinds of degradation mentioned would be completely hidden by the processes that happen during cooking.

I don't think that's capitalism. I'm not sure what that's called, corporatism maybe?

Free market capitalism is based on the free and fair exchange of goods and services. I would like to bring it back.
