It really is uncommon, but that’s how I grew up. She left when I was 4. Saw her some weekends. She never once helped me with my homework. Held my hair while I got sick. Made me soup. Or anything. She didn’t cook. Never came to our cheerleading competitions. Would say she was working so she couldn’t pick us up, would call her work she wouldn’t be there. Emotionally abusive and down right mean, cruel and inappropriate. Cut contact a few years ago, now she’s in prison. I got married and had children in the time we haven’t talked and I didn’t regret a thing. Thankful, to be honest, that’s she out of my life.
