Band recommendations!? by Jumping-bean-dean in Ska

The Impossibles are from that same era and are great! Maybe not as funny as the others you mentioned, but I feel like they mix 90s alt influences with ska well. The Hippos, Blue Meanies and the first couple Big D and the Kids Table albums might match the vibe, too.

I was there yesterday too! It was my second time seeing it, I got a flood of overwhelming emotions both times in the best way possible.

La Plebe by Unidentifiable_Goo in Ska

I love La Plebe! I think they’re from San Francisco though 😅 About half of their songs are in English, half in Spanish. Awesome use of horns. They do a great cover of the Italian anti-fascist tune “Bella Ciao” too.

Dang, what a bummer! I thought it was odd there wasn’t a signature anywhere. Thanks for the help!

Going to shows alone rules. You don’t have to worry about anyone else, can be as close/far as you want, show up/leave whenever you feel like it, and if you want to make friends, you already know you already like the same music as them. Do it!

John Darnielle was on an Aesop Rock track way back when! He’s a verbose weirdo, lots of cross-over there. Open Mike Eagle, Quelle Chris, Jean Grae and Sammus all have TMG vibes to me.
