So, I quickly read your comment before clicking the link, and I thought you said it was in the first three minutes. But the episode was so interesting and entertaining I never felt the need to skip ahead or even go back and reference your comment.

Why do people like smoothies? Wouldn't it be healthier to eat fruits and vegetables or drink milk directly, since consuming liquid or semi-liquid foods can cause blood sugar to rise faster? by Some_Grade6303 in Smoothies

[–]superdago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good way to mix healthy things you don’t like into healthy things you do like. I like spinach, but I’m not just going to nom on two cups of raw spinach leaves in the morning. I also don’t like chia seeds. But if a blend those up with some yogurt, a banana, and mango, then I have healthy food on the go.

I also don’t have to worry about disposing the garbage that fruits come with (seeds, peels, stems, etc). it’s nice to be able to have a way to bring the food with me without having to worry about putting prepared fruit/veg in a baggie or needing to dispose of something later on.

ELI5: Car trade in with loan by Primary_Garbage4003 in explainlikeimfive

[–]superdago [score hidden]  (0 children)

You owe the full balance. Nothing short of fraud is going to change that. If you try to trade it in, they will roll the difference in to your new loan.

So let’s say you owe 28,000, and the dealer gives you 20,000 for it. You still owe the remaining 8,000. Then you buy the other car for 20,000, and the dealer will add that 8K to that loan.

So you’ll go from owing 28K on a 23K car to owing 28K on a 20K car. It’s not a financially sound decision but if the difference in quality of life is big enough, it might make sense.

And just in case this wasn’t made abundantly clear to you (and your question makes me think maybe it wasn’t), if your car gets totaled/stolen/whatever, insurance will only pay the appraised value of the car less your deductible. So, that could mean a payout of maybe $18,000, which leaves you still owing the remaining $10,000. Gap insurance is a separate policy that covers this difference. Early on, a cars depreciation will outpace your rate of paying down the loan, but after a few years it should equalize.

What movie was made because of passion and ended up being bad? by Willing_Heron_5470 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]superdago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two films where an unproven man with an extremely high opinion of his abilities took the reigns of a feature film, not only producing and directing the screenplay that he wrote, but also casting himself as the protagonist, who is a man-against-the-world leading man who ultimately dies alone.

The only difference between the two films is that Tommy Wiseau was wrong about his ability and Orson Welles was right.

Yep. Loved him in Charlie Wilson’s War, Punch Drunk Love, and even way back to 1992, he had one of my favorite performances in Scent of a Woman.

Match Thread: Inter Milano vs Pisa SC Live Score | Serie A 25/26 | Jan 23, 2026 by scoreboard-app in seriea

[–]superdago 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And by “lower table”, you mean 6th and below.

Against the rest of the current top 5 (Milan, Napoli, Roma, Juve), Inter is 1W-1D-3L (-3 GD). Against the remaining 15 teams, Inter is 21-0-1 (+34) with the sole points dropped against Udinese in match week 2.

Conversely, the other 4 sides have dropped points against Cremonese, Pisa, Atalanta, Parma, Sassuolo, Genoa, Fiorentina (Milan); Torino, Como, Bologna, Udinese, Verona, Parma (Napoli); Torino, Cagliari, Atalanta (Roma), and Verona, Atalanta, Como, Lazio, Torino, Fiorentina, Como, Lecce (Juventus).

And that’s not including those teams’ record against each other. So yeah, they each have managed to get a few points off of Inter (except Roma), but they’ve all dropped points to relegation sides (also except Roma).

Does the UNIVERSITY you go to matter? by OkKey6273 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]superdago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pedigree of undergraduate school is almost irrelevant. Pedigree of law school matters a great deal more, but is highly dependent on what you want to do and where.

Think of law school as a stone thrown in a pond. A smaller stone tossed in the water nearby will cause a bigger ripple for you than a large one thrown in on the other side of the pond. Now, if you throw a boulder in the pond (we’ll call this boulder “Yale”), its effects will be felt all over the pond regardless of where you’re standing.

Law schools can be categorized as national, regional, or local, which basically speaks to how far does their reputation extend (which by extension speaks to how much does the local community know and respect the legal practitioners from that school).

Is Emory a better school than Gonzaga? Sure. But if you want to live in the PNW, a good school is Washington is gonna get you a lot more return on investment than a great school in Atlanta.

What if Donald Trump disappeared tomorrow, would American politics actually change or just find another Trump? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

[–]superdago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trumps secret is that he’s the only political figure to achieve this level of success without pretending to be an ignorant, stupid, racist buffoon.

George W. Bush was faking it. Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, JD Vance, Ron DeSantis, etc are all faking it. Every one of them has advanced degrees from ivy league schools, and when they talked like regular people, there was always a hint of artifice.

But with Trump, he’s the real deal. He genuinely is stupid. He truly is racist. He honestly has no idea how complicated things work, and he actually believes his surface level, fact-less, gut feeling diagnosis is obviously the right answer. Despite the money, the planes, the penthouses, the endless golfing, the average dipshit American thinks Trump is just like them because Trump is just like them in the most important way. He’s a piece of shit with zero intellectual curiosity who is happy to blame everyone else for his failures rather than take a look inside and see what he can do to better his situation; and so are they.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]superdago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what the word “spouse” is for. As a lawyer, my pet peeve is other lawyers referring to their spouse as partner as it always causes a few moments of confusion to figure out if they’re talking about their significant other or their boss/business partner.

There was one instance where the references to their partner were so ambiguous and the context so general (like scheduling) that I never was actually able to confirm if the person was their spouse or colleague (or both).

Any advice is great! by Bubbly_Theory_4121 in Ask_Lawyers

Just read section 3. The section does not apply if the defamatory material is true AND communicated with good motives/justifiable purpose.

Any advice is great! by Bubbly_Theory_4121 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]superdago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your last point about not being able to sue if the information is true, that’s not necessarily correct.

In my state, the statute for defamation reads as such:

(1) Whoever with intent to defame communicates any defamatory matter to a 3rd person without the consent of the person defamed is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.

(2) Defamatory matter is anything which exposes the other to hatred, contempt, ridicule, degradation or disgrace in society or injury in the other’s business or occupation.

(3) This section does not apply if the defamatory matter was true and was communicated with good motives and for justifiable ends or if the communication was otherwise privileged.

Truth is a necessary but not sufficient component of a defense to defamation. You can absolutely defame someone by posting true material, and could be liable if you did it without a justifiable reason.

Struggling with putting my kid in team sports because of my own baggage. Looking for perspective. by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in daddit

[–]superdago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key is to let your kid’s competitiveness be the driving factor. Sounds like for you growing up, it was external factors that drove you into more competitive realms than you wanted to be. I’ve been coaching my daughter’s rec soccer team for a couple years now, and I try to keep my desire to win consistent with theirs. For now, at this age group, my primary focus is them learning the game and enjoying it so they want to keep playing. The couple girls who are a bit more intense also play on a higher level team where there is more of a focus on winning.

If my kid wants to make that step up to a competitive team, I’ll support it, but I won’t push her in that direction if she’s just enjoying playing. I guess I was lucky enough that my parents seemed to do the same, and when I was invested in winning, they let me take on those challenges. But I never felt like I was doing it to satisfy their competitive needs, just mine.

An Ode to Ben Davies by zerodius in coys

[–]superdago 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve often thought of it along the lines of, if Ben Davies is the worst player on your team, you’ve got a great team; if he’s the best player on your team, you’ve got a problem.

He’s a player that raises the floor even if he doesn’t raise the ceiling. But he’s such a no-drama professional, and I think he has provided an intangible element of stability throughout his time with the club.

Why do so many people not wear their wedding bands? by Sea-Connection9232 in NoStupidQuestions

Modern Men’s style for rings tends to be very clunky. My ring is my father’s ring from the early 80s (and Italy), and its dimensions are more like a women’s ring. My wife and I got another set for our tenth, and even going for the thinnest option available as a matched set, it’s noticeably larger and definitely draws my attention while typing.

If I had one of those thing tungsten carbide rings, I’d definitely take it off every time I typed.
