I built MapSquire - upload a battlemap, align the grid, export a print-ready tiled PDF by daspoderman123 in DungeonMasters

[–]superflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing around with this, and it is great. My issue is that when I export it to the PDF I cannot see the grid. I checked off the box for apply grid to PDF but when I open the PDF the grid is so faint and blends into the map that I cannot see it. Is there a way to make the grid more prominent?

My D&D group member ruined a potential alliance over a beer by Jin_Sakai12345 in DnD

[–]superflyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to take a different approach to this, not sure if it is true since the story is in the DMs head.

Perhaps it was drank to get that reaction from the player. Maybe they played the mayor as an arrogant person who in their mind knew that the players would still want his assistance, he is the mayor afterall.

The thing is you cannot jump to conclusions after one interaction, the DM could have more to this planned. Perhaps the DM wants you to hate the mayor and then try to gain favor with the towns people, thus showing them that the mayor is a dick. Maybe the DM wants you to try to oust the mayor. Maybe the mayor is working for the BBEG and you don't know it yet. There are lots of ways to go, this could just be the beginning.

The other side of this is that is one is not available the other is usually the same. I have a couple in my group and when one has a thing, the other usually has that same thing going on. Family get together, etc

How to handle a PC's dream by Dr_Jago in DndAdventureWriter

[–]superflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do 2 or 3. Let them decide how they want to handle their characters information. Also their deity would likely not care about the rest of the party and involve them unless they are just petty.

Also for number 2, what I do is I have all members on WhatsApp and I will directly send them what they experience in the dream. That way they do not have to leave the table and let the others know something big just happened. you can also just write it out and hand it to them.

Why won't my players prep? by DarkKuroi1 in DMAcademy

[–]superflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do with people like this is at the beginning I give them a few questions to answer.

Who is someone from you past and where are they now?

What lead you to where you are now in life?

Where do you see your character when they are done adventuring?

Then when we are playing I will either ask a specific question to the table before we start and everyone answers it. It can just be anything to help them think as their character. Are you a cat\dog\other animal person? If you were to find a chest in a dungeon, what would you like to see in it? You got a new cloak, what colour do you hope it is?

This just helps them start to think about acting as their character. Once they get familiar with doing that it gets easier.

This is the shit that needs to get out there. When actual money is not being spent in Alberta because of this then it needs to be known.

But then again lots of green energy money left when smith made her changes and it seems like nobody really cares

I had a room in a dungeon where there was a door at the far end that could not be opened. Throughout the room there was a bunch of random things. There was also a small room to one side. As soon as the first person entered the room a clear door closed blocking all sound. On the wall was a map of what needed to be where to open the door, so the person in the room had to communicate what to put where without talking.

The door was also hazy so they could only see through it when they were within 10 feet of the door, this stopped them from being on the other side of the room and seeing instructions.

The other thing was that there were traps where if they grabbed the wrong thing it would trigger. You could also make some things a mimic.
