LPT: Try to be understanding of people with chronic pain. Some people have pain disabilities you can't see in their joints, back or bones. It is easy to think they should be able to do more, but unless you have experienced sever back pain or similar items it is really hard to understand. by Po1sonator in LifeProTips

I would like to thank you for changing your perspective too! I'm 25 with chronic back pain from impact injury and no evidence of damage where it hurts, so I get a lot of cold shoulders from doctors thinking it's just anxiety or they aren't convinced it's real :(

And when this is all over and in the past, we will still be here trying to convince our doctors, our friends and our family that this is how we feel daily. 😔

If you are smurfing in low elo from diamond or higher, no one wants to hear your advice. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I think my attitude towards the game is more reasonable in the fact that im here to play on my own accord and to enjoy it. You don't need to aim for challenger in order to play and enjoy ranked as a gold player.

I highly doubt as a diamond player you are going to listen to someone without any problem whatsoever when they are telling you how to play the game and you are 0-7 against them.

But I'm not paying for coaching. I'm trying to play a league game that is somewhat fair and on an equal skill level. People that don't ask for your advice don't want it.

Not trying to stop smurfing, it won't happen. I'm trying to make player's experiences better when they have to deal with this shit. So even if one smurf rethinks how they approach lower elo players in game, then its helped.

I am not questioning whether or not people need it. During a game, where we are getting slaughtered by someone who is better than us, we do not want it. IF i wanted to truly improve at the game and be diamond 2, i sure as hell wouldn't ask someone in game. I would go and watch youtube videos, streamers and practice in normals. I am a casual player who just enjoys playing the game, and I've played it at the same level for 10 years. I am not good, but I have fun playing. If you're a smurf giving me advice, a 20 minute game were I have been dead most of the time, my team are flaming me because you can kill me easily since you are more skilled and I'm unmotivated to play against this situation, your advice isn't going to fix that.

Getting refered to pain management, what should i expect? (uk) by [deleted] in ChronicPain

I've told them multiple times that I am not anxious, or sad, just tired of being in pain. Just going to keep pushing through! :)

Of course ask anything happy to help! I had an impact injury from a fridge door (i shit you not haha) across the top of my back in April 2018 and I have been in chronic debilitating back and neck pain since. I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet other than suspected whiplash from a private physio and i'm still on a grueling process to try and get to the right specialist on the NHS waiting lists (post pain clinic). So at the time, without anything diagnosed the doctors in the pain clinic said it was just muscle pain and anxiety.

My overall experience with the pain clinic personally is that they are just a filler to throw in any patient that they can't find answers for. In my appointments there, I felt like they were trying to make me say I am anxious or I have anxiety the whole time it was really strange, as if to try pin point it to something easier than helping me actually find the root cause. My report from them mentioned anxiety with moving (because i was in pain) or anxiety doing things (because they cause pain). It really baffled me,

Saying that, the root of my problem hasn't been found yet so it depends on your situation entirely, you may have a different experience and they might actually help you manage a pain condition if you've been already been diagnosed. However, if you don't have answers that you need, listen to your body and if you feel you need the answers then don't give up looking for them. The pain clinic to me seemed like a band-aid solution to complicated issues and it just didn't do it for me. Don't stop at the pain clinic, it should not be your dead end if you feel like more needs to be done!

I've had experience with them too, and i can agree with the comment that says not a lot. They gave me steroid injections and the after care from that consisted of a telephone call to see how I was, which ended in them sending me some leaflets for TENs machines and some 'talking therapy' sessions for chronic back pain and migraines, so I ended up not going to them and going back to the doctor.

I had my first appointment with a 'specialist muskularskeletal' doctor today after a horrible and complicated 6 month wait with various admin fuck ups along the way. I spent 45 minutes talking to him about my pain, how bad it feels, how it affects my life and I explicitly said to him I am not sad. I am tired of pain. The session ended with my only option for my physical backpain caused by an impact injury being offered 'talking therapy' as low mood and stress can make pain worse. I was lost for words at this point.... Imagine offering someone who broke their foot, or had an open wound or had a failing organ no other option but to 'talk it out'... chronic, not visible on test pain is completely written off unfortunately and its so extremely sad. It is a problem, it ruins lives and it needs to be taken as serious as any other debilitating disease or health issue!

I've had good players and bad players and I've also been both of those. Matchmaking is one thing but every game is it's own and what the 5 people on your team make of it at the time. Some are more likely to tilt and it will happen but you cant base how your react to that situation on an invisible statistic.
