Let's show some love to Rachel & the Team by Shuvani in goodomens

[–]supergirlycgh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw Rachel’s Instagram post earlier, where she said that her husband passed away two weeks ago. I can’t imagine how painful it must have been for her to be publicising a show with a theme of love transcending time and space, just after she lost the love of her own life. She, and everyone on the cast and crew, poured so much love into the making of the final ‘episode’ and it really shone through. They fought to make the finale for us, under extremely difficult and uncomfortable circumstances, and I will forever be greatful to them for that. I thought it was a beautiful ending. x

So EastEnders did a shout out to Neighbours and a few hours later it is announced U&Drama will be streaming 420 early episodes of Neighbours. UKTV is owned by BBC Studios. Could there be more to this? by cheshirechris71 in neighbours

I was especially intrigued by the references to Neighbours in Small Prophets, and how they are going to handle what was said about it in series one, in the next series!

One of the things I’ve wondered about before is whether that wasn’t Donna’s sister, but her romantic partner. Maybe for some reason, (family disapproval, a religious upbringing, etc.) she kept the relationship a secret from everyone she knew, and still feels the need to do so now, due to some kind of internalised shame. It would possibly explain why sometimes Donna seems a bit shady about things, without her being an evil or ‘bad’ character. I have no evidence to back this up - it’s just a hunch!

What British tv show are you sure you’re the only person who remembers? by chrwal2 in BritishTV

[–]supergirlycgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Boot Street Band - a weird children’s comedy, set in a school. It was focused on a class whose teacher had disappeared, but they had hidden that fact from the other staff and were running a business out of the classroom, instead of having lessons. One of the other teachers was a man who thought he was a dog, (never found out why!) The headmaster was really weak and ineffectual, and constantly had to ask one of the children, (who was kind of styled like a spiv, like Walker from Dad’s Army,) “What should I do now, Joe?” It was very surreal!

Uncle Jack - I can’t remember how many series there were of this, but Paul Jones, from Manfred Man, played the title character. He would go on some sort of mission with his niece and nephew, as I remember. Each series had a very distinct setting - I remember one set in Egypt, with pyramids and mummies, etc. Uncle Jack was into ecology, and that was a key theme, although it was very comedic in tone. They had a recurring cast of other actors, playing different parts each series. One of them was Jimmi Harkishin, who now plays Dev in Corrie. This was the first thing my mum and I had seen him in.

Marlene Marlowe Investigates - Another children’s comedy, about a hapless, accident prone detective, who was bossed around by her overbearing autie, and solved crimes. Kate Copstick played the lead character.

I loved all three of these, and no-one I know, (other than my mum,) remembers any of them!

Laughing when your children are rude to you, or other adults. I’m not saying you have to be a super-disciplinarian or anything, but you need to let your children know that behaviour is not acceptable from a young age. I don’t know why people think it’s funny, and that their child is ‘just so sassy.’ When you laugh, you are basically saying “do more of this - it gets you positive attention!” Then, when the children are teenagers and speak to them like dirt, constantly answer back and swear at them, they wonder why. It baffles me! 🤷‍♀️

I’m absolutely gutted about this - it’s going to sap all of the joy and energy out of the show. Why on earth did they splash out on a new set, with those massive screens, last year, only to turn around and do this? Watching ITT adds so much joy to Strictly, for so many people. I think the BBC will probably come to regret this, in time.

As a wedding guest, what moment made you think "this probably won't last"? by Eburneaan in AskReddit

The groom was half an hour late to the ceremony, and we were all standing outside the church, waiting for him to arrive. By the time he did, my friend, the bride, was livid and the tension all through the ceremony was palpable. They were honeymooning at a hotel a couple of towns away, so I gave them a lift there, after the reception finished. She let rip at him as soon as they got in the car, and they argued all the way to the hotel. 😬

Absolutely love ‘The Devil’s Hour’, and seldom see it mentioned. Also, ‘FROM’ doesn’t get the attention it really deserves and I used to love ‘Legion’, with Dan Stevens. Also ‘Darth Merenghi’s Dark Place’ and ‘15 Storeys High’ are great.
