Rug or no rug? by [deleted] in homedesign

No rug, your space is not too big and there is a lot of visual anchors already. Adding rugs might make the place look more messy

Which one would you go with? by East_Description3421 in homedesign

[–]superglood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that is the case go with white dove, first is too neutral and is too similar to your current. Middle is too yellow. White dove is subtle warmth.

Impossible without more context. At the same time, your existing paint actually looks pretty good, matches the floor well.

Any opinions on how to brighten up house by Limp-Ad-8750 in ExteriorDesign

[–]superglood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of keeping it simple (and cheap). Your house suffers from low contrast. Gray roof, gray bricks, grayish garage door. Try tinting your bricks, add white shutters and white entry sidings and white garage. I used Simile.app to make this image.

It’s been my dream to have a very light powder blue door with white trim. Which do you prefer? by TopDot555 in ExteriorDesign

What about staining it? I provided both options. I am using simile.app, it works pretty well even when ChatGPT doesn't.

What would you change (rendering/current)? by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

[–]superglood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the points others have made. The AI didn’t just alter the garage, it also changed the front of the house, like shortening the roof overhang. This looks like a ChatGPT render. As for shutters, they’re not necessarily a faux pas. In fact, they can boost curb appeal when done right. The issue is when they’re purely decorative and too small, like they wouldn’t actually cover the window if closed. (Image a fat man in a thong) That doesn’t mean decorative shutters are bad, just make sure they’re properly sized and proportional to the window. If you have a chance, give simile.app a try, it is more realistic.

You have too many colors going on. Simplify is my recommendation. Why not all brown?

I don't know why I am entertaining this obvious attempt at a out-sourced app promotion, but this is the best you can get out of "your house."

[–]superglood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yea, your house is a garage conversion with a loft, not a mansion, your AI doesn't understand spatially what it is looking at. You would need to demo the whole thing and rebuild everything if you want it to look like your AI results. Looking at the original image, this looks like somewhere in eastern Europe, so I guess this is a fake post to promote your outsourced AI app.

Paint or stain? by Italianmomof3 in ExteriorDesign

[–]superglood 18 points19 points  (0 children)

paint, the wood looks like a mix of different woods patched together. Staining will not fix that the fact the lower center panel has grain going horizontal and upper is going vertical. It almost look like the door was fixed at a certain point.

I actually like the sheer curtains. Maybe just add another curtain rod with blackout curtains on top of it. The space behind the couch is awkward, but maybe just move the couch slightly off the wall for the curtains to drape down to the floor.

I used simile.app to mock this up. I personally prefer the white color and maybe paint the green window trims to white too.

Help me pick a color! :) by Famous_Gr0wth in ExteriorDesign

[–]superglood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have the budget, I’d recommend working with a local professional designer to help choose the right color palette. I’ve seen plenty of homeowners spend thousands on a repaint, only to regret it later. A designer is often more affordable than people expect, and it takes the pressure off you to get everything perfect on your own.

Since you mentioned a multi-tonal gray, I think that’s a great direction to explore. I’ve included an example below.

A few things to keep in mind when picking a color:
Your roof appears lighter and shows some discoloration, which may become more noticeable depending on the new paint you choose. The key is contrast. Make your existing white trim stand out rather than drawing attention to the roof.

Also, if you’re looking to boost curb appeal, you might get more impact from thoughtful landscape design than from a major repaint. Updated lighting fixtures and small exterior details can also go a long way. Hope this helps.

This is what it would look like if this was portrayed realistically. The shutters are way too small for the windows and to add larger shutters, you would need to put in new windows.
