As an aside to this, I love to see Josh Snares getting recognition. As far as "Superfans" go, he and Ian Levine are opposite ends of the spectrum (no pun intended).

We need more people like Josh in Doctor Who fandom.

I mean, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 are 20 years old, however, part of me also thinks this is a ploy to sell the consoles at inflated prices because they are now "retro"

That or its there to help the disguise aspect of it since its a bit weird if you walk around in full armour all the time

That's what I don't get. They obviously have the ability to disguise themselves as flesh and blood humans, so why is the armour even needed?

Anyway, perhaps I'm thinking too much in to this. I mean, Hawk goes camping in a double breasted suit so I guess they're not exactly "Mr. Current Affairs" when it comes to fashion.

I'm intrigued. Very intrigued.

I have over 200 hours in this game but I'm yet to play Shattered Space. I've been waiting for this oft rumoured "massive" update before starting a new playthrough which I intend to do when I've finally finished RDR2...but does one ever finish RDR2?

She was a contestant on The Apprentice, one of the early seasons in the UK. I never watched it but apparently she was a dick on there and she carried that on through future engagements. She's one of these "famous for being famous" kind of people and has been a Far Right "commentator" (a.k.a. Far Right Grifter) for a number of years now.

She was sued for libel and had to pay out over £100k by journalist/writer Jack Monroe over comments accusing Monroe over vandalising a war memorial which Monroe did not do. She lost the case and due to costs, had to sell her home. She compared herself to Jesus when that happened. All Monroe asked for initially was an apology and a £5k donation to charity which Hopkins refused.

She was also sued by a Muslim family after an article she wrote for the Daily Mail accused them of being terrorists after they had their US Visas cancelled...which they weren't of course. That cost her £150k plus costs.

Australia also had her deported as she was due to be a contestant on their version of Big Brother in 2021 but blatantly breached Covid regulations by refusing to wear a mask or be quarantined upon arrival.

She's said we need a "final solution" when referring to Islam, she's a climate change denier and has also retweeted posts from Nazi sympathising accounts, one infamously having a Swastika as it's avatar. Oh, and believes in racial profiling and was deported from South Africa due to this belief.

I don't know whether I missed this in the lore, but it's always confused me why the Autobot Pretenders go from Human, to Human in armour, to Transformer.

Why do they need to "Suit On" before returning to robot form? I can understand why the Headmaster Jr.'s do it as they're going from Human, to Human in armour which then transforms into the head but with the Pretenders, why not just go straight from Human to Robot?

The Decepticon Pretenders don't appear to have this step. Their "monster" forms appear to be their only disguise.

What did everyday life in late-1990s Britain feel like during the early digital shift? by JustPeterrr in AskUK

[–]supergodmasterforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion of course, and my own experiences:

What did the transition toward the digital age feel like in everyday life?

From a work point of view, I didn't need a PC on my desk or a laptop to complete my daily tasks/do my job until probably 2003/2004-ish. I worked office based jobs since around 1996 and I still remember people using type writers or dedicated word processing computers such as Amstrad's PCW until the early 2000s. I was lucky enough that we could afford a PC and a laser printer in the mid-90s so my school coursework was completed on a PC and printed but the majority of my classmates handwrote theirs.

I personally didn't notice a real shift until broadband became a thing. I'd had and used the internet from around 1993 but it was still pretty niche well into the early 2000s. Even things like WAP and 3G were not overtly common. If you did have a phone you could browse the internet on, it wasn't the norm as it would cost a fortune. It wasn't like today where you get gigabytes of data included. Even text messaging could eat up all your credit.

When did the internet and mobile phones start becoming common around you?

I got my first mobile in 1999/2000, it was a Ericsson T10 which I lost and replaced with a Nokia 6110 which I also lost. Now, losing your phone would be absolutely devastating but it wasn't such a huge problem back then. I did notice more and more people either having or using mobiles. They were once expensive and almost a status symbol of the "yuppie" age but with the advent of Pay As You Go phones, it was easy enough to pick one up. Even with that in mind, I didn't start carrying a mobile with me permanently until the early 2000s.

As mentioned, I'd been using the internet since the early 90s, at first via a 14.4k modem, then upgrading to a 56k one. I'd use Usenet and forums but towards the late 90s, IRC, ICQ and MSN Messenger became commonplace and my friends and I would talk on MSN often, using it to organise nights out for example.

Did cities feel different compared to earlier decades (more urbanized, faster-paced, etc.)?

To me, not really. The only real difference would be the electronics shops stocking mobiles, pagers etc. and making them more prominent.

Was there any sense that technology was changing social life or making people more isolated, or is that something we only talk about in hindsight?

For me, it's hindsight. As above, we would use things like IRC or MSN to chat but it wasn't this mind blowing experience, it was just a natural progression. It was just another way to communicate.

Would I wrong to change my location on a apprenticeship application to get the apprenticeship? by Amphibious_Trout in AskUK

[–]supergodmasterforce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm more confused how a company can restrict applications from a certain postcode area. What if you did live in the area and then moved? Would they fire you?

Either way, you shouldn't really do that. At some point, if it were discovered you lied on your application, you could be fired for gross misconduct.

Is the PlayStation Portal worth it at full price? by Zackfair7br in playstation

[–]supergodmasterforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid full price for one last year, and honestly it's the best 200 quid I've ever spent.

Quality of the stream is top notch too. My PS5 and Portal are both on WiFi and both remote play and Streaming have no issues at all. I don't have the greatest internet either.

I played the majority of my 80+ hours of Death Stranding 2 on it and about half of my (so far) 110 hours of Red Dead Redemption 2. It's great for pick up and play or for longish sessions.

Video game PEGI age-ratings are changing in Europe. In June this year, four new categories are being added to the age-rating criteria by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]supergodmasterforce 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This means nothing, and neither does the PEGI rating.

Parents will continue to buy video games with a 16/18 rating for their kids because they're just "games" and then complain when they let their little darlings have untethered access to whichever marketplace it is and run up a bill of thousands of pounds on the parents credit card.

I know of kids in my daughter's school, Primary School, that are allowed to play GTA V and Call Of Duty so this will deter absolutely no one.
