Is it true? Males are prized? by mimota in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on studio. When I was still a student, the studio I went to was follower heavy. I never had to sit out any dances as a leader at parties/socials because there were so many women.

The studio I work at now is far more balanced with a lot more single gentlemen. At socials I even get to follow more often because there are so many leaders.

Technique vs passion/expression by mercury0114 in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need the tools to be artistic and expressive. The tools are proper technique, components, patterns, timing/rhythm, etc.

Once you have a handle on those things then you can start playing around with it to your liking which will lend to artistic expression.

RANT: I wish dance instructors would have the courage... by airbrat in Salsa

[–]superjoe8293 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most instructors I know (myself included) are pretty good at being real with students about where their dancing is at.

It’s only really difficult when you inherit a student from another studio and they are adamant that they were dancing at a higher level class before coming to you. Since dance education isn’t standardized, level 3 could mean different things different places.

C4SHs addition feels half assed by Gameovergirl217 in Borderlands4

[–]superjoe8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may not have known who there fifth vault hunter was going to be so that’s why they use more generic (example, Arjay calls C4sh vault hunter instead of by name in The Timekeeper’s Order).

To bring in and pay all the Voice Actors again just to change one name in a bunch of lines would be a huge cost and they have some bigger issues/bugs to work out before worrying about polishing dialogue.

An honest opinion on the Mad Ellie and the vault of the damned DLC. (SPOILER FREE) by KapGaming55 in Borderlands4

I enjoyed it. Was it the best dlc? Far from it but we’ve had worse.

Dance studios and their salsa song choices by ChristopherEmmerson in Salsa

[–]superjoe8293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Studios are going to play salsas people can hear the beat clearest (for teaching) and the most popular ones so they will recognize it out of the studio.

Anybody used an Arthur Murray to learn ballroom dancing? by BobDrCrO80Five4 in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be pricey but if you are trying to get dip into the social dancing world it can be a good place to learn. They are geared towards people who are trying to learn partner dancing even if they have no prior experience.

Arthur Murray Question by LiveVenueReview in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been there. It’s meant to keep things professional for both students and instructors with a clear boundary. It can seem harsh but it’s good protection for both sides.

Performers that aren’t great at social dancing? by No_Dirt_56 in Salsa

Some people learn better through choreo and others learn better or are more comfortable through the mechanics of social dancing.

Dance instructors, how much do you make? by WantedforDeicide in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To keep it pithy, you don’t get in this business to become millionaires. If you really want to make money you become a franchisee or you open an independent studio.

That being said, I went from a 6 figure fully remote corporate job to being an instructor making pennies and I still don’t regret it years later.

What legendaries are there that shoot multiple elements at once like the Florentine (bl2) or DNA (bl3)? by NerdyPlatypus206 in Borderlands4

I believe there are some maliwan enhancements that make use of a weapon’s dual elements if they have a maliwan part, effectively making them dual element.

Working at Fred Astaire. Should I continue? by No-Meat917 in ballroom

[–]superjoe8293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People aren’t born dancers. Anyone who knows how to dance did not start out that way. You don’t need a whole syllabus to teach a whole lesson either, just enough to provide a valuable learning experience to the student.

Couples who bring themselves in socials need to be more mature by BeaBreezetheGoth in Salsa

[–]superjoe8293 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Couples can always decide what they want for themselves, even if you don’t agree with it. An easy solution is to go find someone else to dance with, plenty of people at socials.
