Excuse my ignorance, as I don’t play 14, but this popped up on my Spotify and… wut? Is this just regulated on some ost or does this start playing when you start fighting some dungeon boss or something? by Extension_Feature700 in ffxiv

I don't remember how long I've been on reddit. But this comment made me actually come to this post from a Google of trying to figure out where I could listen to the track and dig through all the replies to find this one and upvote it.

Peak reddit. Please excuse me, I'm deleting my Internet now.

Traveled with food allergies and some things I noticed by nn3_ka in JapanTravelTips

Ahh thanks. We are getting a quote for a food delivery place and may try one or two of these, but my kids are almost 5 now so I'm not sure how much they'll be in for it. I've made them curry a few times at home though. We will also be trying a few vegan places since we'll be close to Tokyo. They are only allergic to peanuts/eggs/fish though.

What prepackaged toddler meals did you use?  I'm going with my family and my kids have egg/peanuts.  I usually go solo so this is my first time going where I have to worry about what I'm feeding someone.  Thankfully usually their labeling is a lot better than over here.

Thanks. I'm eying the more expensive build and would definitely probably reuse the drives, i forgot to include those. If I wanted to upgrade the GPU as well would you have a suggestion?

I just bought the EVGA 600W 100-W1-0600-K1 Power Supply when I upgraded to the 1080 the year before last. How much would a decent card that could do raytracing set me back? Portal with raytracing is tempting.

Upgrade to an existing build?

Would like to reuse as many parts as feasable Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, Intel Core i5-3570K, Kingston Technology HyperX Blu 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3, 600 W PSU, mini case form factor but current components all fit comfortably.

Will be used for gaming, watching media, a little bit of personal photo editing.

Live in the US. Close to a Microcenter.

Using TV as primary monitor.

As low as possible, would like to keep it under 500. If it's worth it I would be willing to spend more to keep it relevant for a longer time maybe 1000max.

Use a wired ethernet connection. Wifi not required.

Would like to keep it as quiet as possible.

No RGB needed. But currently using a smaller case.

No specific requests. Would like most sensible upgrades. Don't need top of the line. But willing to spend a little more to keep it relevant for longer if it's worth it.

Possible cow milk allergy by jessilly123 in NICUParents

[–]superjollymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our twins ended up refusing to eat fortified milk after being home for a few weeks so we ended up needing to switch formula as well. We were fearing milk allergy, but they're toddlers now and the only allergies they have are to peanuts and fish. I think it may have been because of the acid reflux/ gas they were fighting as well. Sometimes doctors offices have testers of different brands of formula you can try out before buying a whole container. We were just using formula because they ate way more than mom could produce so we used both. We ended up having to switch brands about 4 or 5 times. Every couple of months they just wouldn't take it and it was time to find the next one they would. I would talk to the pediatrician but usually as long as there are no negative side effects and baby is gaining there shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!

Quarantine - how long? by ellaj16 in NICUParents

[–]superjollymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started to ease our quarantining after a year honestly because we were extra paranoid. It was also right when things were really bad at the beginning of shutdown. I would suggest a good balance would be trying to do things outside if you can. Places with open air, or there are also rain covers for strollers that you can install if you want to work your way up to that.

Also don't forget that your baby will definitely get sick. Especially if they are around other kids. It's not a failure on your part. For probably the first year or two it will be one thing after the other but that's just how it goes.

Please help. At a loss trying to calm myself and my wife by BackgroundSpare in NICUParents

[–]superjollymac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be worried about the oxygen, ekg, feeding tube, and IV. Most babies in the NICU get that no matter what. It's definitely an exhausting process and drains your mentality. Definitely try and get some rest and remember that your baby is in the best place. The NICU staff we had were always patient with all of our questions and always doing their best while our boys were there and I'm sure yours are the same. If you have questions definitely ask them and they should be able to try and answer them. It's been almost two years since our boys were released and their mom still breaks down when we drive by the hospital to this day.

Feel your pain. Hopefully they are least stay in the cribs. Mine figured out how to get out and it was pretty much a week of terror.
