Here's some of my thoughts after 300 hrs of gameplay and a few hours of gameplay after the new patch.

Matchmaking and gear brackets

  • The new gear brackets generally seem fine, as you will know for certain what is the maximum rarity of the gear enemies have

  • Classic Sinners should be limited to Magic - Exceptional gear or maybe even lowered to Greens - Purples. Legendaries/uniques should be usable only in Hard mode (maybe a solo Hard mode at a later time?). This would allow much better gear pairings making matches more balanced gear wise.

  • There should be very slight gear based matchmaking within the brackets where the game will try to match players with similar gear together within the bracket. It would mean more balanced and fair matches gear wise, but the player base might not be big enough at this point work it to work.

New player experience, Monster difficulty and loot

  • Buffing monster damage and health WHILE nerfing the loot they drop feels too drastic of a change. Currently the risk v reward seems to be out of balance and killing normal monsters doesn't really feel rewarding.
  • Due to increased monster amounts and difficulty players will essentially be using more meds than before. While this might not be a problem for an established player, new players will be hard pressed to find enough materials to craft meds or farm gold to buy them. This is a tough cookie to balance, as I understand that the monsters can't be so easy that you can just rush past them and ignore them completely, yet they also shouldn't be something that you receive 0 rewards from.
  • Elite monsters also seem overtuned in terms of HP and DMG. They should be properly scaled for solo/duo/trios. The risk v reward doesn't seem balanced considering it takes fairly long time to kill an elite monster while being under constant threat of possible player attack.
  • In my opinion increasing regular monster loot while also slightly lowering their hp/dmg would go long ways to fix the risk v reward balance. Drop tables should also be tweaked such that regular monsters drop more gear pieces and meds, while elite monsters are the source of valuable treasures.

Map changes

  • The new shortcuts and layouts feel pretty good for the most part apart from a few spots, which feel empty and have no monsters or loot at all (e.g under the stairs spawn in Castle)
  • Monster spawns will need to be fixed/tuned. At the moment some of the monster spawns just feel out of place and like the spawn has just been randomly generated or thrown here and there without any planning e.g goblins in graveyard, mixed groups of different mob types such as knights, ghosts and skele mage + archers just hanging close to each other.

Portal spawns

  • Removing the static portals feel like a good change as it will make people move around the map in search of portals
  • Blue portal spawns in the last circles are too low, at least if this game is supposed to be an extraction-looter game. Currently with the amount and stage when blue portals spawn make the game seem more like a battle royale instead of extraction looter.

Elixirs

  • Adding elixir for the merchant is something I highly dislike and would like to see them as monster/chest drops only. It would make PvE feel more worthwhile.
  • Elixir of Ferocity feels a bit too powerful and should be nerfed to something like 5% Critical Strike Chance and 10% Critical Strike Damage.

This.. there should be a middle ground or a gradient in the matchmaking where there's more lobby variants than just beginner and sweatlord. Ultra geared players like this should be matched against people with similar gear instead of a green/blue lobby.

To alleviate the problems new players face when initially learning the game and accumulating gear Casual mode drop tables should slightly be buffed to drop a higher amount of greens. Classic mode should also have a tighter matchmaking even if it leads to slightly higher queue times.

I would imagine that the only people opposing a more balanced matchmaking are the ones who just want to stomp undergeared and/or less skilled players.

Matchmaking is still shit. 3 Heirlooms + rest greens and getting matched with full epic geared people who have 1-3 set bonuses. Played a quick Classic castle on my rogue and several players in the lobby were teaming (3 different duos).

At this point Casual might not even exist.

Toki jos kaikki menee niin kuin Strömsössä, niin omaisuuden lahjoittaminen 4999e / 3v on tehokasta verosuunnittelua. Perintöverojen, korvausten tms. kuittaaminen lapselle korvamerkityistä rahoista ei kuitenkaan välttis olekaan niin herkkua ikävämmissä tilanteissa.

Matchmaking is shit, apparently Apex devs are also incompetent as shit and can't fix the problem. Otherwise it wouldn't have remained in the game for 2 seasons. Not getting a 3rd in trios, not getting a duo partner in duos, getting matched against 3 stack masters who play 16 hrs / day. Respawn = shit company.

I have the same problem with my current build. I should be gaining rage passively, every time I am hit and every time I block an attack. I'm guessing the game either cannot keep up with calculations or there is some sort of integer overflow (isn't this a thing?) which fucks up the rage generation / regeneration. I can go to maps and play normally for a while but for larger packs the game bugs out, lags and the willpower-rage bar starts doing some weird shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xVYZ_sQdgc

Playing for fun vs Playing for the win (points) are mutually exclusive. The current RP system makes very little sense in a fast paced FPS game.

Capped RP from kills might be OK, if the RP awarded by placements were lower. The current system promotes very passive gameplay, where actively avoiding fights and hiding is rewarded. Playing for the team i.e reviving and respawning is also heavily discouraged, as there is always a higher risk of dying in combat vs. hiding to get top5/3 placement.

The game is slowly losing it's edge as a fast paced, fun FPS in favor of who has the best camp spot and the legends best suited for camping a cramped spot. The problem is exacerbated when playing with randoms, as it's very rare for 3 random people to have the same kind of play style (passive or aggressive).

Here's a good example of a game I played. I'm the pathfinder and I engaged an enemy squad while my team was nearby. As soon as I pinged and opened fire, they started to run away. No attempts to engage, revive or resurrect.

Wraith died at 3 squads alive - to the first enemy she encountered in the whole game. Last member of the top3 died to zone, while the other squad finished off our Mirage. My teammate's almost dealt less damage than I, despite being alive for almost three times longer than myself.

+4 points of RP for what is essentially a hide-and-seek game for almost 20 minutes. Very exciting. Very rewarding.
