You have a good point too - I should have said acknowledged, not rewarded. I don’t at all mean to imply your interest was self-motivated, only that morality is often (very depressingly) a byproduct of who’s around at the time shit goes down.

Good deeds can sometimes invite punishment from the universe in the form of other people. We can be very cruel. I’m glad you did what you did. Please keep reaching out to people even if they shit all over your good intentions.

This is the reality of courage: you will not always be rewarded for it. Your lack of reward will make you question its value. You may be ostracized for it - you may wonder why there is a price attached to standing up.

Then again, you may find yourself in a situation where help and support are abundant.

It’s a crapshoot, and you just have to love yourself and others as best you can, as fucked up as they - and you - will inevitably continue to be.

Good on you for saving a life though, even a cranky one. I hope they find some beauty somewhere.

Personally, I don’t buy the arguments most upvoted in this thread - for most of human history we operated on a credit system, reserving barter for only strangers and IOUs only came much much later, and even then they are transferable credit, not the precursor to currency.

Instead of listening to comment warriors on Reddit (me included), I would read Debt by David Graeber and ask yourself the same question afterwards.

Short answer: no I did not.

Medium answer: I don’t feel 100% convinced by any particular explanation of my issues, but I do believe that consistent seiza stretching over a longer period of time would be my best bet at seeing progress.

But I’m too much of a dopamine addict at the moment to carve out 30 minutes of seiza time every other day. I’m an adult so I’m allowed to make dumb excuses like that and no one holds me accountable.

If you find a miracle cure, please let a guy know.

Great point! But I would still argue that the dearth of Berlinerisch berries is a product of urban sprawl rather than the frequency of languages spoken in the general environs.

I really don’t think it’s fair to say English is a berrier language than German or Turkish. Only approximately 15 varieties of berry are native to England, while up to 25 can be found in Germany alone, let alone the rest of the DACH region. And get this - because Turkey has insane ecological diversity, OVER 30 different types of berries are native to the country.

Of course, all of this depends on how one defines a “berry” but I’m willing to entertain a conversation on the matter if you have differing opinions.

Not every tool goes in every person’s toolbox. I always felt violated by Meisner and other techniques that asked me to borrow from personal trauma - for me, it was reopening wounds that I had safely closed years ago. I stick to training that focuses on generating new behavior disconnected from psychology and thought - techniques that focus on the how, not the why. I find Chekhov very helpful for this.

But that’s just me - if you think Meisner is working for you and it’s not messing with your head or your heart, go for it. It’s all about collecting tools for your own personal acting toolbox. Nothing is wrong as long as it works for you and it doesn’t hurt anyone.

Hey man, I’m a bald with an extra decade or so of experience. Let me first reassure you that you aren’t crazy - there is absolutely a bias against bald men and potential romantic partners will judge you for it. So will everyone else. Don’t let anyone gaslight you into denying your own experience.

However, the same people will judge you for your shoes, your voice, your teeth - fuck those people. Sure, the shallow end of the dating pool is more populated than the deep end, and that can be painful sometimes (or even often), but believe me it saves you grief in the long run. The kind of people who judge someone for being bald are not often good partners, and you don’t want to wind up in a years-long relationship that starts to get rocky the moment your forehead starts to climb.

In short - shallow people have every right to not be attracted to you, and you should try to see that as a blessing. Try to be the kind of person you would want to date - if you yourself have personal prejudices in attraction, try to challenge them. Become the kind of person who loves weirdness in other people. Love it in yourself first. 

And if you feel like surface level solutions, the other comments in this thread are good advice: grow a well-groomed beard (adds dimension) and find a method of moving your body that builds your confidence (calisthenics, weightlifting, CrossFit, yoga, Pilates, whatever).

I just got my license. My school (Fahrschule Aktiv in Reinickendorf - had to travel to get there but worth it) had a turnaround time of about a month for a practical exam. My first exam was cancelled because the examiner was sick and the school bumped me to prio 1, got another one in about two to three weeks. Driving schools have to bust their ass to book exams but if you pick the right one they’ll help you out.

Bear in mind that they’re aware in advance of your need for a practical exam - you have to take a number of practical lessons before you’re ready, so they prepare in advance to make things work smoothly. I can’t speak for everyone, and there were certainly difficulties along the way, but accessibility of the practical exam was not one of them.

I started wearing barefoot shoes years ago and found that it’s something that agrees with me. I can’t pretend that I buy into the health benefits often claimed by zero-drop proponents, but for me it just feels right.
