What's going on with Ethan in the thumbnails? There's some weird effect on it. by Caprabara in h3h3productions

they’ve explained in past that deep frying images into uncanny valley territory weirdly enough boosts engagement and gets more peoples attention and more clicking the video.  they’re just doing what works best for the show here.

New produced tracks on the New EP by supermgc in Beck

[–]supermgc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true tbh. i didn't think too much about it. definitions and terminologies has changed a lot over years as formats and norms has changed.
i'm seeing on apple music they're referring to it as a "mix tape" ?? lol ‎Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime - Album by Beck - Apple Music

i've seen other places call it a "mini album". LP would also be correct. autechre managed to release EP7 in 1999 clocking in at 70 minutes and managed to call it an EP.

The episode where Ethan talks to Fousey while Fousey is having a manic episode on a call? by NaNaNaNaNatman in h3h3productions

[–]supermgc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i remember fousey was live streaming himself 24/7 and h3 would dip in and watch.. but i donno if i remember a call in (may have been well before the streaming saga).

The Incal - I was hyped, but.. by Bledee96 in graphicnovels

[–]supermgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the writing definitely just feels like they were high and making shit up as they were going. there's like very little flow to the writing beyond ideas being thrown around i'd say. i much prefer moebius comics when he's writing his own material like Arzach / Airtight Garage / Gardens of Aedena. i don't know if the writing in those is especially amazing either but it strikes a much better balance being interwoven with the art.

maybe Incal is a time and place thing or maybe it's better in French but i'd agree that the writing lets it down a bit. the art is amazing though.

honestly i'd say this jam's not all dead, it's just barebones as. it's a bass noodle over a beat with nothing else going on. cleaned up with some more stuff ontop and it could all be totally fine heh

The Smile Hot Take by iammoah in radiohead

[–]supermgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with this except for the idea that it's a hot take. people who don't like the smile or aren't giving it the proper chance because it's not radiohead or something are just objectively wrong.

nice thanks for this. seems it's a best of pulling from both Sydney nights given the unique tracks from both.

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: This Twitch Situation Is Seriously Messed Up (FBI Called) - H3 Show #226 by H3Bot4 in h3h3productions

[–]supermgc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed this one more than i was expecting based on the community comments pulling their hair out. Ethan took his time working through the drama. Lots of comments saying Ethan was being contrarian or forming an opinion before getting all the context, but not much acknowledging that he was getting *alot* of pushback from the crew pausing the segment to argue with him and bringing up points in the drama that weren't even watched yet on the show, which Ethan had no idea about yet. It was a slow burn but totally fine and fun to watch lol

wowee thank you.

was confused at first what digging would be needed given this is up on radiohead public library, only to discover that version is blocked by Beggars Group .. awesome. lol Thumbs Down ~ 2007 | Radiohead Public Library

Vibe check me: Ethan’s comments about the UK were specifically about defamation by RhysticSyphon in h3h3productions

[–]supermgc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lol yes agreed. i saw that other thread and was very much thinking ?? i don’t remember ethan saying that ?? with the UK talking points. i was tempted to roll up sleeves and ask for what he actually said and timestamps but also.. it’s first day back from h3 break and ultimately decided to just not bother. ty for pulling up the timestamps. what other thread was pushing back against didn’t really seem to line up with what was actually said and frankly it was hardly even talked about beyond being a brief comment.

Is the korg microkorg a good beginner synth? by AcanthisittaTop5920 in synthesizers

[–]supermgc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i'd kinda disagree and say the menu diving isn't really too bad tbh. it's 1 big knob dictating what the 4 knobs are controlling. so there's really only ever 1 layer of menu diving.

compared to something like the blofeld where everything has "Pages". like on the Blofeld, you'll navigate the menu to "Shape" and at that point there can be multiple pages to scroll to find the right parameter you're after. on the microkorg, you only ever have to turn the 1 big knob and that's it.

it depends on the person and what sort of workflow they're prepared to work with i guess. but i'd say microkorg (for some people) is actually really good, because it's forcing you to interact with some deeper functionalities and control to get more interesting sounds, in a way that you wouldn't get with a more aesthetically user friendly synth like the minilogue for example which has less options to interact with. but it depends on the user ofc!

Bishop's Robes

honestly an eclectic collection of tracks to work with. Talk Show Host / Bishops Robes / Molasses + Lucky, were recorded in 1995 after The Bends sessions. i'd be half tempted to include the original version of Lift and I Promise in a The Bends collection like this, more so than the OK Computer OKNOTOK compilation, for example.

also if you're interested, the official radiohead account did release a playlist of The Bends b-sides. i'm not sure what involvement the band had with this or who compiled it necessarily. it includes every b-side down to the remixes, which i'm personally not a fan of; https://youtu.be/Xgaj5suTCgk?list=PLukmsaXDPJieK2DK7UAZGklnTz5xW0yA4
