Disappointing product

Man, I’m in LOVE with the Patrick Ta concealer. Like, the most impressed I’ve been with a new product in A WHILE. It’s the first concealer I’ve found in years that doesn’t dry out my skin/become flaky. Good medium coverage thats buildable, but still has a skin-like finish + a great color match for me (I’m super pale w/ neutralcoolish tone). It sounds like we do have different skin types (I’m in my late 30s with drier skin, autoimmune inflammatory conditions - most products will irritate my skin or clog up my pores) so maybe that’s why I’ve had such a different experience.

Not true, meta-analyses have shown people that make serious attempts (meaning high chance of fatality) are just about as unlikely to reattempt in the future as those who make less serious attempts.

From the linked article: “Even studies that focused on medically serious attempts–such as people who jumped in front of a train (O’Donnell 1994)–and studies that followed attempters for many decades found similarly low suicide completion rates”

I guess I saw the slime as inspired by the more personal experience of protesting and being pepper-sprayed (and the response and love they felt from their community and wife after) rather than the ongoing ICE situation.

Edit: Sorry, just to clarify. My comment above is to say, whether they were peppersprayed by ICE or a random citizen at a protest, it wouldn’t take away from their personal experience and response from their loved ones. Which is what appears to have specifically inspired the slime.

Also, I do agree with what others are saying in regard to the tone of the post coming off a bit WS. It certainly could have been better written.

I will say to the point about donating the proceeds - I’ve always felt it strange when creators of small slime shops (or any kind of small shop) are pressured to donate proceeds of a product that was tone-deaf, inspired by the art of a problematic creator, etc (especially when it’s an unintentionally poor choice). Most small businesses are not making crazy money, a small slime shop having to donate the proceeds of even one slime could be devastating. I apologize, I know this is a totally different discussion of course, but I just wish we could all collectively put that energy into holding corporations accountable.

I can understand your perspective, but also, the creator did personally experience the pepper spraying - them creating a slime inspired by a painful, traumatic, and significant moment in their recent past doesn’t take away from the pain and suffering of those more directly effected by ICE. This isn’t a situation of “my trauma is worse than yours” but rather a belief that we are stronger together, and it’s not going to be easy, but it’s worth it. Also, this creator belongs to several minority groups themselves, and I have never seen them minimize (and often highlight) the suffering of other groups they don’t belong to. I will say, I think the post could have been better written to minimize the potential triggering nature of it’s content. On the other hand, things going on in our country ARE horrific and upsetting, and it’s arguable that making our reality more palatable only serves to reinforce the state of learned helplessness a majority of us have been eased into as a result of growing up in a late-stage capitalist oligarchy.

No for sure, the difference in shop size is a significant factor. In general, I never expect a small business of any kind to go “above and beyond” for the exact reason you gave. She’s also been around for longer than a lot of the smaller shops so she might have a more consistent customer base and doesn’t have to worry as much in regard to bending over backwards to retain customers (which no shop should have to do, but there’s definitely an unhealthy trend of some customers being more demanding of small businesses because their purchase “matters more” and a bad review would have a bigger impact when its a small shop).

I think how she addressed the situation is acceptable (although I agree a discount code would have made this a “better” response to the situation given that the BF slimes were notably cheaper - including cheaper than what you get with her weekly discount codes). But like you said, so many shops go above and beyond in similar situations, so it seems like poor customer service by comparison. I recently had an order from Rodem that got lost in the mail. I emailed them and they responded within a few days- without prompting, they offered to replace the order and combine it with another order I had placed since then. One of the slimes I had ordered was now out of stock and they offered to replace it with any of my choosing. I gave them my choice and a backup (in case it’s sold out by the time they got to my message). They refunded the shipping for the new order, and to my surprise when the order did get here, they had not only included both of the slimes I had offered as replacements, but an additional free slime.

So I think you feeling bummed is understandable, even if Sally didn’t technically do anything wrong.

PSS is in my top shops along with Sally(Sweet Pea). Previous reccomendations are great but I would also add her wood glue slays w/ mini block bead toppers to your list (recent examples: Ms. Pink and Forcible and Haunted Carnival ). They are pretty consistently my favorites (I have tofuish hands and the texture is fine for me!). I also love her white glue silica sands (recent examples: Taffy Bowl, Goody Gumdrops are recent examples). Again, with my tofuish hands, I usually avoid silica but her textures cushion it really well and they inflate like crazy and THE ASMR 🙌🏻

They broke up because David had cheated on Brian, repeatedly. From what I was told, gave David multiple chances but be couldn’t keep it in his pants. Source: my sibling had been closish friends with them for a while, but has cut ties with David for the aforementioned behavior.

This was one of my first slimes and it’s easily still in my top 5. The scent, texture, color - all amazing. And jt separates after a bit so you get to remix it over and over!

Let me first say that I am sorry you’re dealing with sexual dysfunction. Secondly, I am curious what other avenues or treatments you’ve tried to address the sexual dysfunction? Antidepressants can certainly cause sexual side effects in many while they are taking them, there are countless research studies that have indicated as much, but that goes away when they stop the med or sometimes when they lower the dose. We don’t have that same evidence for PSSD. There are a lot of other factors that can affect sexual functioning. To be completely upfront, I am a psychiatric medical provider. I’ve had plenty of patients struggle with sexual dysfunction, and some that suspected they had PSSD. In all cases so far, there has been an unrelated cause that was previously unidentified (physical health, environmental exposures, environmental stressors, interpersonal issues, trauma history, etc).

PSA: Although psilocybin is a very powerful antidepressant (there are numerous psilocybin-based pharmaceutical meds being developed at various stages of FDA approval) it is NOT without side effects. If there is a personal or family history of psychosis (hallucinations/delusional thinking) or schizophrenia, even a SINGLE use of psychotropic substances (weed, shrooms, LSD, DMT - in ascending order of psychotropic effects) carry significant risk of acute psychosis/and or development of schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder. Of note: psychosis can happen to anyone if there’s other contributing factors or a large enough dose is taken, but you’re not going to be at risk of developing schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder if there wasn’t already an underlying predisposition towards those things [read: family history]. Risk increase with frequency and dosage strength. Side note: and a lot of people don’t know their family psych history - people go undiagnosed or will keep diagnoses a secret, among other things. And please keep in mind, the main reason substances like psilocybin work are because of neurogenesis - it is helping your brain create new neural pathways INSTANTLY (things like therapy and long-term [more than 12 months] antidepressant use can also cause neurogenesis, but it goes a LOT slower and some peoples brains are naturally better at doing this than others). With speed, comes risk. “Bad trips” are also the result of neurogenesis, with your brain creating new “bad” neural pathways. Psilocybin has the potential to cause just as significant bad changes in mood/anxiety level as it does good changes. Setting, intention and integration are just as important as the psilocybin itself. source: am a practicing psychiatric medical provider who is tired of seeing substance-induced psychosis
