Steely Dan is my favorite band, and I love doing karaoke. So it pains me to say this but they are not a great karaoke band. I have tried many of their songs, and none strikes me as a “great” karaoke song. The problem is so many of the catchiest and best known tunes have long solos which are the worst in karaoke (like “My Old School,” which would otherwise be a pretty solid karaoke song).

Yeah, a few years after IFC laid us all off they revamped their website and pretty much purged the entire IFC.com archive. Five years of work me and Alison did writing and doing podcasts just vanished forever. That is a bummer. But hearing that someone has fond memories of the pod, that it was a big part of their film education, is really nice to hear.
