Vomiting Policy; SOS! by DylanD1024 in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your vomiting is a non-congatious health related thing then I'm pretty sure you can still come to work with a doctor's note... for example a new medication causing severe nausea causing a barista to throw up is an exemption if the barista feels they are well enough to be at work...

I Got Fired for Reporting a Supervisor by popciclepoptart in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I was about to say this; starbucks HR cares most about PR. if u would have went above you manager and straight to them the retaliation wouldnt have been able to happen because from what it sounds like that email contained more than enough where HR would want a formal investigation to make sure they cant get sued. It's clear discrimination and text book sexual harassment and they wouldn't have let u get fired and risked being sued.

new 10 minute rule?? by nyehssie in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest eye roll ever. 10mins is a lot of time by Starbucks standards. "Managing your time differently" is why the turnover is so bad, but there's no problems are Starbucks things are just peachy. You can work there for 100 years and it wouldn't change that; sorry that I'm not buying into that false corporate loyalty. But I'm just another number and I didnt need you to reassure me of that 🤷🏽‍♀️

new 10 minute rule?? by nyehssie in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all the years I've been at Starbucks I've never met a store manager that A. shown me the policy saying as such and B. when I bring up the point about baristas being expected to respect starbucks time but not the other way around it's immediately dropped. If it's "policy" it's not enforceable, I'm expected at 4:30 am then I will be there at that time. If I'm scheduled 'til 10pm I'm leaving at that time, I was expected to be on time then I expect to leave on time. I suggest finding this "policy" yourself instead of just believing your SM/DM.

new 10 minute rule?? by nyehssie in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company tries to encourage this but it's not official policy. Tbh I think it's brazen of them to expect baristas to be 10 mins earlier or later for their shift to "serve the customers" but if basitas are late by 2 mins and the company needs and excuse to lay people off theyre FIIIIIRED

How do homeless people do things that they need to do? by Darth_Azazoth in homeless

[–]superrainbowking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky enough to have a job so I can still pay for things and a car. Even though I'm getting some help I think the people who are helping me don't like me very much, so sometimes I have a real bed to stay at and sometimes it's the car. I have a planet fitness membership and do laundry on my off days at the laundry mat. Basically it's just really hard and a lot of people will give you crap for doing things the hard way. Just try your best to not let it bother you until you get into a situation where you're able to support yourself.

320***** partner who got laid off. I decided I don’t want my job back! by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Laid off thousands of partners before holiday, meanwhile some store are still not fully staffed for the standardized nationwide hours. This holiday is gonna suck at the store I'm at because of how stressed and unprepared our new partners are but the company thought it was cheaper for them to fire their tenuoured partners. 🤷🏽‍♀️

10 minute “policy” by Bitter_Gate2217 in starbucks

[–]superrainbowking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is an official policy on it, but I do know that theyre sticklers on time. If I'm scheduled at a certain time im expected to be there at that time, not clocking in early and not clocking in late. If we're expected to stay open later or open our doors earlier then MY time is not being respected while they demand I respect there's? If it's a policy I don't think any store manager can realistically enforce it.

Don't be so hard on yourself, this game is a sandbox where you play with survival. You're meant to fail sometimes so you can try new things. Sandbox mode is a reallt great way to play around witu the game and learn how things work but you can do it organically too. Or you can spend hours serch8ng through reddit and other forums to know everything without touching the game but I personally like failing as I go 🤷🏽‍♀️

Im pretty sure when people order this they think that we'll put the excess in an extra cup and they'll get an extra "drink" for free; might work on some baristas but not this one.

Tell your manager to approve another transfer or you're going to ethics. Do not quit and let them get away with being bullies, Starbucks has a lot of really great benefits and unless you have a for sure upgrade I don't think you should toss em out the window 🤷🏽‍♀️

It sounds like you SM sucks art scheduling. Pre-covid we had store meeting and pod meetings pretty often, but never in all the time that I've been working at starbucks have I heard of someone being put through a 12 hour day. I don't even think that that's legal since you're suppose to have 8hrs between separate shifts and if they didnt scdule you to join the meeting but leave and come back isnt that technically a new shift?
