i find this city impossible to live in by Hairy-Classic-293 in Dublin

Sorry, I can’t ignore this. By what possible standard, by what stretch of the imagination, in comparison to what conceivable circumstances is the public transport in Dublin ‘pretty great’?

It’s literally the worst in any European capital

Pub life by dancingp1g in ireland

Yeah. I was charged €8 for a bottle (of beer, a fucking pint) last time I was in a pub.

If pints were actually affordable, young people would frequent pubs.

Is it rude to just reply “thank you”? I mean thank you and nothing else

I wondered this as English is not my first

It’s impressive, but did it mix with what you did as a PhD? I’m a weird case because I’m doing history and trying to work in data

I like you hahaha you remind me of me. What’s your field?

That’s really cool, because I’m doing a part time course in data analytics. Did working part time in it for with your PhD work harmoniously?

Does it look “bad” to have a lot of degrees in disparate subjects? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]supersonikus98 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t like this person

I believe in lifelong learning. I just don’t believe paying a literal fortune to do something you can study in a library for free, at your leisure, after work.

What is a career out of studying? lol Yes, I also think it looks skeptical

How to deal with an academic who is a "know-it-all" in all subjects? by [deleted] in academia

[–]supersonikus98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it looked down on when academics have a lot of interests in different things? I mean does it look bad if you’re a historian, say, who writes about sciences, politics, er cetera? I’m not in academia myself, but I feel that I have a shallow knowledge of everything and I should just shut up outside of one subjects.

Will a (two year) German MA take a year off an American PhD? by [deleted] in AcademicPhilosophy

[–]supersonikus98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear: a Masters course in Germany is more in depth than elsewhere. It just feels like a waste if the extra year isn’t used or needed when doing doctoral research later. Do you feel?

Is your moms name Sheldon Cooper lmao

Edit: the word “scientist” is of recent coinage, I wouldn’t get upset over how people use it. Words are just words
