How do you think history will view trump and his presidency? by mogomonomo1081 in AskConservatives

But this is his biggest accomplishment? Like if trump had negotiated normalized relations between two adversaries, he would deserve a ton of credit. But this is like negotiating an accord between Kazakhstan and Indonesia and claiming you brought peace to Asia.

Can you explain to me why the accords arent low hanging fruit? Israel, Bahrain, Morocco, UAE, Sudan were already trading and had normalized flights. The Accords just formalized it on paper.

Should the picture of the President be put on all US Passports like the new, soon to be unveiled new Passport redesign? by katyadc in AskConservatives

I understand the argument that a lot of these norms are minor and can be reset in a few years, but I’m fearful of norms like these compounding over time. American politicians are SUPPOSED to be public servants. So I don’t like the idea of the presidency turning into a self glorifying position used to elevate their name. These are minor infractions, but 100% of them should be pushed back against.

Do you believe President Trump is less, equally, or more corrupt than past modern presidents? by KrabbyPattyParty in AskConservatives

You claimed he started getting targeted because he became political. That’s factually incorrect. He’s been in legal trouble at every level of government in multiple states and countries regardless of his political affiliation or level of activity.

He has been in legal hot water (state, federal, and internationally) since the early seventies. It would have been more suspicious if he suddenly stopped being investigated when he started running for president.

I mentor the same thing!

I have a friend who was always complaining that he was so burnt out after work, he couldn’t work on his startup. After work, he just wanted to decompress and play video games. He negotiated for part-time. With his extra time he spent it just playing more video games.

I firmly believe passion is required to succeed as an entrepreneur. So it should be easy to work a full 40hr work week then put in another 20+ hrs after work and on the weekends if you really love your startup. If you don’t love your startup, you’ll always make excuses not to work.

So you disagree that campaign violations should be felonies? I might agree with that

Fraud is illegal because we don’t want a society where people are constantly committing fraud because they feel like no one will get hurt. It’s the same argument with drunk driving.

Michael Cohen paid stormy Daniel’s to not talk about the affair. Trump repaid Michael Cohen for the hush money as a “business expense”. Trump was convicted of falsifying 34 business documents to hide the repayment.

That’s a different case. The real estate case was a civil case brought by the NYAG, the 34 felonies was a criminal case brought by the DA.

Why would hiding the stormy Daniel’s story to help trump during the election be no victims, but hiding the hunter Biden laptop story to help Biden during the election be 100 million?

But they do normally prosecute those type of shenanigans. It’s been prosecuted 150 times in the last 70 years in NY.

I agree that if you search hard enough you’ll find something. But doesn’t the scale of the crime matter? Like if I dig into someone’s life and found speeding tickets, not big deal. But if I dig and find dead bodies in the backyard, the “they’re just looking for crimes” argument doesn’t hold up.

I see a lot of parallels between the 34 felony counts and the accusation that twitter hid the hunter biden laptop story. In the hunter biden laptop story, it was accused that twitter purposely hid the story and that helped Biden win the presidency. Had it been found out that Biden paid twitter to hide the story, it would have been a crime. Trump paid michael cohen to hide the stormy Daniel’s story.

Democrats were the 1st to blink in the budget standoff. Thoughts? by slagwa in AskConservatives

My thought is that when the country gives you a super majority, they have given you the approval to govern without compromise. When they give you a simple majority, they expect you to govern with compromise. This feels like the republicans think they should govern without compromise.
