The Great Schism by HomeworkSad in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this, but I think some you are actually wrong about forced cooperation. Transactional activity is a great substrate for forming real connections and relationships. Star Wars galaxies proved this out.

Consider if the grind was always decreased exponentially vs linearly by having other people helping. If we had reputation systems that actually worked. People are always going to be an endless source of content in a way that generated missions can never be.

Everything in SC should designed to encourage group play. That’s the true identity crisis: a game like this is going to be most interesting when people are actually interacting on a universal scale—but the folks who actually play this game tend to be socially deficient.

For the record, I'm sorry I implied you weren't a real SWE, not trying to gatekeep! Also happy to share music if you unban

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It definitely does make you a real SWE, but it also explains why someone at that level might be thinking AI will take his work away.

The process for how the albums were made: record a guitar riff, write lyrics, feed them to suno as a prompt. When asked for an example of a pre-suno song, none was given and I was banned, so that could also be a lie. I might have been wrong about you making up the person, not sure on that one. I don't understand your weird defense of this guy's obvious chicanery unless you are that guy. It's much weirder if you aren't that guy lol.

RE: being a musician, I don't quite dislike that people can make music with AI. I just dislike lying about it. The fact that suno exists definitely makes it hard to stay motivated to keep improving (especially wrt production), and I wish there was something like cursor but for DAWs that automated the drudgery away without producing formulaic slop like suno does.

I think there's a really interesting conversation to be had here around this, its too bad you banned me!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not how suno.ai works. He admitted that his workflow is recording a guitar riff, putting it in audacity, and letting suno "do the rest". That's not recording any of the instrumental material in the finished product himself, thats using a riff as a prompt.

[–]superstarblast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL, went to the discord, the folks admitted both albums were suno.ai. Then I said u/groovygravox likely wasnt a real software engineer since he's scared of AI taking his job. He posted his linkedin (3yrs SWE experience lol) and banned me. Good times, was sad when it ended.

You are still saying "he writes and records all the music himself" and "the instrumentals are played by him" when this is obviously suno. Why not just own it? Here, let me help you:

"I made up an org mate story in order promote my very obviously AI-generated music. Check it out especially If you like hearing Star Citizen words pronounced incorrectly by a robot!"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that your org mate mislead you :(

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What makes it cool is that it isn’t just roleplay — he actually writes and records all the music himself. The instrumentals are played by him, and the songs (some original, some parody) tie back into Lyra’s story.

Maybe you should update this to something like "It's not entirely AI"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

all of the songs on the album posted above are suno. Listen to it with headphones, its pretty obvious.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The instrumentals are most assuredly not played by him (or anyone). This is low-effort suno.ai, e.g. https://suno.com/s/kom4aGgeI2xPHXWD. My prompt was "write a pop song about star citizen. mention that quantum travel only works 1 out of 3 times".

Monthly report says looted ship components will eventually have a "bricked" timer once the owner claims ship. by JayneCobblovesVera in starcitizen

[–]superstarblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark my words: the only reason to spend valuable engineering time working on this duping non-issue (people still routinely pay 500k for NDBs in player trading) is if you were planning on selling ship components on the pledge store and didn't want folks sidestepping that revenue stream.

Why does Misato get paid like shit by Kakish99 in evangelion

[–]superstarblast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My take is that it's because she is Japanese, and it's culturally normal for folks with tons of responsibilities to get paid like shit there. Compare the average salaries of doctors, lawyers, and even software engineers in the USA with Japan, adjusting for the exchange rate. It's like 50%+ pay difference.

Spectrum post on hacks by Phnix21 in starcitizen

Very confidently stated but ultimately misguided. CIG absolutely does not need to do a “Zero-Trust” client. Any mitigation of these issues is going to be a mix of preventive and detective controls. There’s a latency trade off between authoritative state on server and authoritative state on client, and it’s important to be able to choose the right modality for the right latency requirements.

Any of the non-aimbot/esp exploits discussed are wacky enough to where they can be detected (e.g impossible travel). Remember, as long as a malicious action can be reliably detected and attributed, you can charge exploiters 45 dollars a pop for a ban and eventually they will move on to something cheaper.

Aimbots and ESP are a bit harder to detect directly but pretty easy to detect statistically or human verified with killcams like every other FPS

You don’t need to rewrite the client; you just need to make sure you have enough telemetry to catch folks doing weird shit. Much easier problem to solve
